Shit, I can barely function at the moment what with my joints creaking and general feeling of "I wanna curl up and die"... seems I get this every year at this time, as soon as the clocks change and the nights draw in I turn into a depressive, almost suicidal, being with little or no get up and go to do anything. It not only affects me mentally but also physically, every bone in my body aches and I can't even bend down without groaning in pain.... a f**kin' horrible state to be in and a state that has become a trend over the past few years. My get up and go has got up and gone and even rolling over in bed feels like a chore. I was listening to jeremy vine on Radio 2 the other day and he was discussing SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and some of the miserable bastards he had on the show exhibited the same symptoms I have, apparantly there's a sun machine you can buy and it helps some of these SAD people. I dunno about sun machines, at this rate of knots I'll be pushing up the daisies (or swilling down the diazepams) I just can't go on feeling this shite... gloomy, doomy, despondent, negative, listless, lazy, introspective....... f**kin' awful Anyone else here suffering the winter blues?

Funny isn't it, I always feel a bit perkier in the cooler weather, it's the heat I can't stand. Many years ago when I was a fit young man, I used to do a lot of cylcling and used to do a weekly ten mile time trial race with the club I belonged to. I always did my best times in the autumn, winter and spring, during the summer I would slow down a bit. Wearing shorts when it's only 3 degrees celcius kind of encourages you to pick the pace up a bit rather than get hypothermia. Perhaps you should have moved south rather than north.

Nope. Not happy one fkn bit knowing it will be MONTHS before it warms up again and that only if I survive the winter without killing something or at least beating the sh*t out of it

NOPE, spring is full swing now. Northern hemisphere that is Last winter in Austria was awful. Heavy snowfall from early NOV 'till we left for South Africa in MAR. They still had snow in APR... The last months there I had to finish our 4x4 that took us around for 2.5 years some time back. We thought it would make sense to bring it back to Africa. Well I did find a sheltered place where I could work on it but there was no heating most of the time. -8 Deg C was the average and saw me with long underpants fleece trouser, two fleece sweaters and working overall. Movements had to be planned in advance.... Anyway, my favourite season in Europe was always autumn/fall wich is pretty much what we get in winter here. My time. My wife's is more the summer when everything is just hot. Stefan
