Just thought it a kind of good idea to make everyone feel equal so I've made everyone a moderator, can anyone see a downside to this? I've disabled moderators powers to ban people so they won't be able to ban each other en masse but can anyone think of any reason this may be a bad idea?
Cheers.
Mike.

Bit of a bugger if someone decide to delete any useful threads. Having said that, could prove interesting if the silent members started joining in with a bit of madness.
Hey, it's YOUR forum, you can do whatever you want!

Madness sounds good Rod I'll set it so the "moderators" can't delete threads either... seriously tho I do think a forum should be able to moderate itself don't you? Mike.

Hey, it's YOUR forum, you can do whatever you want! I take no responsibility for the goings on here it's "everyones" forum so feel free to speak your mind without fear of censorship.

Your dead right there Mike. I think everybody here so far has a bit of common sense. However, can you imagine what would happen at some other forums if everybody had moderator priveliges? oof! It would be worse than a car crash

I'd just keep an eye on new members as they join. I'm sure the profile of this site is low enough not to attract the wrong kind of attention, but there are malicious folk out there with no interest in headphones or music but who'd love the chance to completely screw up a forum with Mod priveleges. I wouldn't be surprised if there are one or two similar-style screwballs lurking around Head-Fi who'd love to do just that.

Point taken Alick,
It was just one of my zany ideas but, the more I think of it, there's no advantage in making everyone a moderator.. I even doubt if it's even necessary to have any moderators with 30 members.
I'll rethink that silly idea and come up with something else shortly ;D

Oi!
Me moderation buttons have gone! Have I been sacked?
Does this mean I will have to return the company jet?
Bugger! Back to the bottom of the heap...

Ah! There they are! Perhaps they nipped off for a while. Perhaps it was the lobotomy that I think may have been performed on me today thats causing the trouble.

I've just surfaced from the engine room Rod and things were very messy down there indeed, I think I've managed to restore all of your buttons... the problem was down to two 85C caps which had leaked due to the excessive heat down there.... I've replaced all the caps in the engine room with Panasonic FC 105C caps so your buttons should work ok now mate

I'll stop messing about with the settings now and I've decided to go with three global moderators for the time being. There shouldn't be any need for moderation but it's probably a good idea to have a few to hand just in case 35,000 members join up overnight and a few of them get rowdy (as if!)

Heh, I think I just failed the moderator qualification test. posted without logging on., duh. Hi Earwax, There's really nothing to moderate here unless you'd like to moderate the smilies? They can sometimes get out of control (especially the mooning smilie)

Well, Space Cadet is really a very suitable title, so I'll be content with that. Actually, I popped over here to see if you were OK. I was worried when I saw your avatar disappear from h-f.

I'm fine apart from a week long headache which has just subsided (thank God!) I'm a forum guest at head-fi which means I can check my PM's and view the site but can't post in the forums. I was originally going to be a "forum guest" for 30 days but the period has been reduced to 10 days so, hopefully, I'll be allowed to post there shortly All the best Mike.

Glad to hear you're feeling better. Is a cluster headache a type of migrane? Sounds awful. 2 ibuprofen generally makes my headaches go away pretty quickly, but I rarely get really nasty ones.

Welcome back! re- H***-F*. Have you been a naughty boy then? Tut-tut. No point keeping it a secret, I posted 5 threads in 7 minutes (not rude or offensive) and that was seen as "spamming" I was banned for 30 days.... now reduced to 10 days...... If only someone would post 1 thread here every 7 minutes I'd be happy!! I sure wouldn't ban them (I promise )

I'd never had a headache in my entire life before this Earwax.... that week long bout has left me reeling and I haven't a clue what caused it or what a "cluster" headache is, all I know it was bastard painful and the skin on top of my head is now very sensitive to the touch (similar to sunburn) I'm seeing my Doctor tomorrow (AM) and will be scanned at the hospital on Wednesday so maybe they can put their finger on the cause of it (I doubt it)

I think Pinkie scrapped the "everyone be a mod" idea. Moderating the moderators in moderation, would it work? I wonder . . .

Its pure and simple from a chaos theory point of view. Actually the first guy who said "too many cooks spoil the broth" was the first guy to adopt a chotic variable in his communication...there may have been earlier instances but none have been documented Seriously - I think a controlled number of mods is important. Censorship should NEVER be a part of this forums because I believe this is freedom...as long as we are civil and polite to each other no subject should be taboo. Or do I have it all wrong? because my "blog" in the "grotto" is going ballistic in my next post...some serious random anger
