Ok,
I'm sitting at home' 1.5 bottles of red into a good evening and I think about the dt990 I have bedding in in the loft, running on a solo, listening to some weird shit that pinky likes.
And I think about the bravo I have attached to the sony blu ray in the lounge..
Grab a couple of cd's and plug in.
If any of you have heard of London grammar, then that's the album I was listening to, if not, try it you may be surprised....
Shit she has a good voice..
Ok, so recently I have been mainly listening to a basic stax setup, nice and very detailed (which I like ) but no over emphasised bass (like a little less).
This seems like a revelation..... The bass is fantastic.. Hannah's voice is amazing.
Then I think of the pinky modified x can that's in the post to me and wonder how much better it can get...... Have to wait and see I guess.
Yes I have heard the beyers try at cans before, in a BBC studio, and wasn't much impressed, in a studio your after isolation mainly so that you can hear what your after, not what the director is after. The 150's are much better at isolation.
The 990's sound pretty sweet. I have allways been one to think that the only way to appreciate Somthing is to not have it. The bass and warmth that these cans give is phenomenal compared to the stax.
I got these cans solely due to the x can that Mike is tweeting for me, all my cans are low impedance and the x can warms to a higher impedance headphone, so I ordered the dt990 pro as a bit of a gamble, yes I had heard it (though a very knackered pair) many years ago but I thought I would give it a go. A pair arrived for less than £100 so I was pleased. I plugged them into my solo and ran a cd through them for three days before even the slightest listen. But once I listened to them I realised why the BBC studio I worked in had so many pairs available to use. They are great headphones, really great honestly.
I'm not one for HIFI, I like music, I'm not so much into hearing the room it was recorded in. Even the crappiest recording can trigger memories and that's what I .ike about music. I have seen the recording venues, I have used 24 track tape machines, I have played with pro tools, and I still like music, music in its moat basispc form
