Hello all! I'm new here but came across this forum doing some searching for some issues I have with my lil turd headphone amp I bought. I got the Bravo Audio V2. I have replaced the stock tube with a Genelex Gold Lion 12AU7 tube and I like the sound alot! I have one major issue though. The noise floor of this amp is absurdly bad. I have a constant hiss sound at all volume levels that remains constant no matter how loud the amp is. It's not audible during loud listening sessions but during quiet parts on music and when there is no input signal at all it's extremely annoying and borderline makes this amp useless to me. The sound I am getting is very similar to that what you would hear tuned to a radio station that isn't broadcasting anything.
Any ideas on things I can/should replace to help with this? I was thinking maybe the capacitors or perhaps even the power supply? Also this sucker seems to run really hot but I don't think thats my issue as the hiss starts almost immediately after turning it on once the tube warms up a bit.

What is your typical maximum listening setting on the volume control ? e.g. 9AM , Noon, or 3PM ?
If you are listening at well under half way position, then the gain of the amplifier is greatly excessive. If that is the case, Mike may be able to recommend a more suitable tube.
BTW, if it is running very hot as many of these poor thermally designed amplifiers do, then don't expect much more than 12 months or so of usable service from it as the larger electrolytic capacitors quickly dry out with the excessive heat and fail.!
If you love valve amplifiers and are prepared to pay a little more for a much higher performing and reliable hybrid ( valve + transistors) amplifier, then check out HA's such Ember at www.garage1217.com/ These were designed by Frans De Gruitjer who is a talented Electronics Engineer.

Hello, I typically listen to music from my laptop computer and the output jack from it is a headphone jack that can also drive headphones so I imagine this may be an issue in and of itself. That being said the noise I am getting is present no matter what and remains at the same level no matter what volume I have set. It's even present when I have no source plugged into the amp. And the noise is the same with both the tubes I have that function in this device. I would say my typical listening setting is about 10PM where 5PM is 0 and this is with my volume set at 50% on my laptop. I'm guessing the overall design of this bravo audio v2 is just garbage but there have been some good reviews of the device online so maybe I just got a bad one .

Hi You are unlikely to be getting hiss from your laptop's output, so it would have to be coming from the Bravo. Many members have previously modified Bravo variants to get improved results, but the original design is also poor thermally, meaning they do run too hot and are likely to die prematurely. For many people they are a novelty , and an introduction to valve audio. Far better designs are available.

Alex I have some similar amps and the wall warts are often the culprit. Try another one of good quality and the problem may disappear.
