Hi, new here anyone tried the Lehmann headphone amp or Project Audio? Seems most popular choices on the forum are MF or GSP.
I have new ATH AD700 and old AKG240s. Whats a good burn in time for the ATHs?
Is there such a thing as a balanced input on a headphone amp?
Thanks Caz

I don't own the BCL but a clone, it's ok but no way I would pay the asking price for the genuine article. Much better amps for a lower price.
Amazingly I also happened to own the ATH-AD700s and the old AKG K240 sextetts, great phones!
In my time with the AD700s I found after the first few hours nothing changed much.
Yes there are amps with balanced inputs, but that also usually means they have balanced outputs, which means getting your headphone re-cabled and re-terminated.

Simple enough to add .This either added inside the amp on a small pcb or as an outboard box : www.jensen-transformers.com/as/as089.pdfNot exactly cheap but the best method for getting a balanced line input into a single ended circuit

I use the standard Lehmann BCL (not the usb version) as my main headphone amplifier and compared to all other solid state models I tried so far I still think it's one of the best of the bunch. It's definitely one the most neutral amps and can drive virtually any headphone with great ease. OK, it's not cheap - but neither is a GSP Solo... and I still prefer the Lehmann over the Solo.

Well, if it makes you feel better: at the moment the Solo gets more listening time due to the fact, that it's at my desk where I (have to) spend a lot of time right now... And it is a fine amp by any standard, too - only not as neutral sonically as the Lehmann. At least the Solo is greener! ;D

Thanks Caz Hi Caz I have just picked up a Yulong Dah1 which is a clone of the Lehmann Black Cube Linear with an added DAC. Its too early to give impressions as the amp has not had time to burn in yet but keep an eye on the the thread linked below for more info: rockgrotto.proboards39.com/index.cgi?board=b&action=display&thread=1056
