Received about well 30-40 minutes ago; small cute looking thing, love the light on the front. Blue led with a red glowing led surround the blue light (I know, but I love my lights). Hooked up the computer, via Coax digital cable to my audiophile soundcard, fired the computer amp up, loaded up Sound forge and a 24Bit 96KHz rip of OK – Radiohead. Plugged in the HD 600’s with the 650 stock cables… From Cold, no burn in, bear in mind the recording is high so dynamics are at there best (with current setup) as you already know. First impression is not amazing compared to when my current “Has warmed up and very much burned in and with 650 with SAA cable”, but F*** me out goes the old, the detail and naturalness, bass on the 600 wow, there a soundstage to. It’s subtle but a difference. But I’m impressed; there’s was a small part with some strings that I notice, ahh that sounded good. Through out playing the album I noticed extra little things. Can’t wait until all is warmed up and burnt in. Thanks for reading, Nathan

Nathan I also play with SF9 and 24 bit 96KHZ. Was the rip from a 44.1 16bit original ? I sometimes find that a 48KHZ 24 bit conversion in SF9 can sound better, when going via the X-DAC V3 which upsamples to 24/192. Occasionally, upsampled 24/192 can sound a smidgin bright, and lacking a little "body". Not with higher resolution stuff though, or CDs mastered originally for SACD, in which case, the upsampled CD can sound very close indeed, to the SACD. SandyK

This is a vinyl rip recorded at 24/96. The only things i can say, it does sound a little thinner but thats not a bad thing either. I havent tried upsampling my cds, i'll just use my Arcam which does upsampling to 24/96, i'm yet to try the Arcam with the new O1 DAC, Will do at some point, letting it get burned in atm.

paradigm, Hope you enjoy your new toy. I'm with you, judging by the pic... I think that blue and red led is a nice touch to soften the hue a bit, not to mention it would go good with psychedelic music

When the unit is only being used as an amp only the blue light is on. When used as a dac and amp both the blue and red light up. Pretty cool if you ask me. Indeed, real nice feature. Wish others would adopt that. Seems less intrusive to signal then a bunch of otehr leds across the board. Nice looking to boot.

Yeah its a great feature, though the drawback is that it makes a click sound when you change from digital to analog, And the optical out on my cd player seems to switch on and off each track, so its really annoying, as if thing is about to blow up or crash on you. On the computer is did not do at all, I could listen change from a cd to mp3 to a net stream, not a problem. It'll be my computer amp though for now it is my main one.
£150 for this is still amazing, do enough research you'll find its recommend in many places.
Currently I’ve got it hooked up to the Arcam CD player (Via analog) as I find the coax switch a problem with this click sound. I assume it a 3 stage relay, as there are 3 inputs.
The Analog connection using a 0.5m Audioquest Phono RCA compared to the coax. The sound is slightly coloured, heightened base and treble. The treble is very slightly muddy in comparison. Though over all it is a very natural and good sounding amp.
So far all the music I’ve been listening to from jazz, dance, classical, choral indie and rock. All have improved. I’ve especially like the fact the classical sounds more enjoyable and realistic.

Glad you like it Para As Miguel, quite rightly, says..... allow it a good few hundred hours to bed in, you may find it gets even better

Paradigm did you buy this in the UK or import it?
My PC has an optical out and this might be exactly what I need to bring the whole system together.

Almost had the first amp for a month now, Have been keeping it and the cd play on 24/7. And i must stay the SQ is simply amazing. The bass, the openness, dynamics attack, sound stage, clarity naturalness. this it a beautiful amp indeed.
Will Post a full review soon.
If you have headphones they really do need a dedicated headphone amp.
