Good Evening,
I’ve been browsing the net to many sites, looking and wondering whether to upgrade my system, mainly for headphone use? So what I have at the moment is,
Arcam 8se CD Player [HDCD]
Audioquest Ruby 3 0.5m Interconnect
Arcam 8R Amp
Sennheiser HD650 with SAA Equinox Cable
+
Unused HD580 and HD600
All powered with QED QONDUIT mains conditioning unit, with respected QED Mains cables.
I phoned up Arcam many years ago and they said it wouldn’t matter about upgrading to a headphone amp as the power to the speaker output it routed to the headphone socket re: Arcam 8R.
I started of looking at the new MF X-CAN V8, but with all the mods with the older models it put me off, and then it went to the Green SOLO after reading mike’s review, then after a few days fell like I’m swimming with so many choices (Zana Deux which one of the last looks, bit pricey considering my setup), I start to space out, as I’m in an ocean and it gets very deep (price). And yes this is my first Post which is saying HELP! I haven’t gone straight into asking without doing searching, though some guidance into the right direction would be most appreciated.
So with money that can be spent, but with a mind which gets to careful it gets to careless. I hand over my trust for the wisdom of this forum, as to the questions of….
What would be considered a well spent Amp considering the above Headphone(s)?
Do I consider getting a replacement for my Headphones?
Do I stick with what I got, is it worth the upgrade?
What I am looking for in sound, would be natural and realistic in all its aspects.
Other considerations are to use it for making music.
Music tastes usually evolve anything I can put my head back, switch off the lights and be in audio heaven. Just listened to the Time Out – Dave Brubeck, which I found very pleasing after today’s warm up of 2 hours~.
Many thanks,
Nathan.
Another note:
I do find when the music gets a little complex; things do seem to get a little cloudy.
