I'm just about to pull the £149 trigger on a pair of these bad lads from Sudgen and i'm looking to buy an Amp too. I've asked around at head-fi, emailed Douglas, looked through the Ergo 1 Amp thread here and come to the conclusion that while the 1 Amp sounds great with the Ergo 2 it doesn't fare well with other headphones. Douglas has said in a thread on head-fi i think that the Ergo 2 could benefit from a fast amp. I'm wondering if the Ergo Amp 1 would be the best option for sure or if there are other options that people recommend.
Thanks

I wouldn't consider anything other than the Ergo amp1 with the Ergo2 headphones.... it drives them beautifully and was designed to drive them. I tried the ERGO2 with the Solo, X-Can v2, X-Can v3, WNA MKlll, headcase HFN009 and darkvoice 336i and NONE of them were half as good as the Ergo amp1.
You'll also find that the Ergo amp is superb with 'phones like the Sennheiser HD-600... it really takes a firm grip of the drivers and doesn't run out of steam.
Nope, on this occasion, there is no other amp I know of that would drive the Ergo2 like the Ergo amp1 does.

Another amp you could try is the old QED MB45 see here you can occasionally pick these up quite cheaply on ebay. The MB45 is quite similar to the ERGO amp1 in that it uses a power amp chip and outputs 2 watts. It's an old amp (circa 1992) but that doesn't mean anything.... treat it with some new capacitors and it will amaze you

Is that "No way" as in no way i'm i coming OR cool! No way! What a mouthful:) Oh sorry my answer was a bit blunt.... erm..... no way as in "not on your nelly". Not meant in a nasty way as in "not on your nelly that place is a dump" but meant more in a "not on your nelly I don't have transport" kinda way. I will be banned from the public highways on the 21st February probably for about 3 years so it will be very hard for me to get around... I can't envisage cycling the 264 miles to Edinburgh on an electric bike Could get a train I suppose? hmmmm..... there's a possibility..... it would mean bringing a suitcase packed full of amps and headphones (yeh, a "suitcase" I am old fashioned) and that would mean carrying it unless I can get some wheels for the suitcase......... hmmmmm........ depends on a lot of factors, if my fractured pelvis is better then I may come down. Where about is it in Edinburgh and are you guys making a weekend of it?

I think it's just one day, but a few people are staying over at the hosts house on saturday night so maybe it will spill over to sunday, who knows. Info is all here: www.head-fi.org/forums/f24/1st-march-2008-scotland-meet-293143/It's my first meet so i dunno what going on i'm just showing up. I live in Edinburgh so it's nice and easy for me, but it's sounds like you need to stay at home and repair
