for sale used? This will come across harsh because I don't kow how else to phrase it...... but, The man did each and every one of us a favor by making his initial offer. Am I the only one that see's putting his product up on the resale market BEFORE it's released as a slap in the face? I ask anyone that must sell they're Green Solo, and bought it under the generousity of getting the pre-released product, sell it here! How can you do that? The damn thing ain't even on market and already people are setting prices on resale value for something they got a deal on in the first place?

Charleyphogg That would be the decent thing to do ! Not only are they selling a "preloved" product, but trying to charge a retail price on something they bought at quite a discount. The very least they could do, is offer it at their cost price (including freight) to Rock Grotto members first.

I can't find it. Is it on another forum? It doesn't appear to be on ebay! Anyhow .. it sucks somewhat - can't imagine selling mine! It's the only amp that I've tried that has really brought the HD650s alive, and also works well with the Grados! Anyhow ... it must be someone who stopped by the Grotto - or how else would they have got the pre-release 2008 model.

I suppose Graham never put any clauses on buying his product so buyers have ever right to sell as they wish. As you know, I bought Mike's but he didn't need it because he already had a 2007 Solo. I suspect Graham didn't do too bad from the sales, cutting out the dealers profits. Everyone was a winner so to speak, the buyers benefited most - a marvelous product at a fantastic price.

My intent wasn't to single anyone out mrarroyo. Which is why I didn't mention where it was. I fully understand reasons come up that are beyond our control, or for whatever other reasons. I also wish I had worded it better then that and appologize from it seeming so harsh, or judgmental.
To me, it seems like it's sending the wrong image since its not an the market yet.

Miguel I hope that it's gone to a good home ! Are you quitting most of your headphone collection too ? You have only had the W5000 for a short period, did they disappoint, or was it for personal reasons ? Alex

Ha, did you used to live down here chap? Yes, the Atlantic coast is more rugged and mysterious than the south coast. I live in Exeter so it's not massively far away- must get back out there when the spring comes, Hartland point, Tintagel, I love it all.

I used to live in Torquay for six months. We have friends near Hartland so I know this patricular area well.
I wonder when the green Solo is available on general release & whether it remains the same RRP as the 2007 version?

I think it would be best address all enquiries directly to GSP at their website.

I wonder when the green Solo is available on general release & whether it remains the same RRP as the 2007 version? Nigel, I paid £297.62 for my Green Solo when ordered in December and just assumed that I had missed the £250 offer.

69 Solos at about 250 quid each= £17,250 over how many months?
If you are paying rent (heat, electricity, water), doing R+D and have an employee, that does not go very far - especially considering the cost of health care. The win-win is the fact that many may have bought a competing product, had the discount not been available. I am not aware of a contract limiting resale, although one could question whether the purchase was genuinely for pleasure or business. It is really a non-issue, unless Graham has a problem with it. The resale means that even more people are listening to Slee-Fi. I assume that that is desirable! If the Ebay price is close to the retail one, we have the true market value of these fine devices!

I'm sure it was a win-win for everybody. Graham made Rock-Grhotto a nice offer and in turn he got to get feed back to improve the Solo before it reaches market. My only concern was that so many were being sold before they had even been released to the public, and pretty much setting the market for the Solo at a discount price before the retail price was even set. Your absolutely correct that it is a non issue unless Graham would have a problem with it. After all, he is the one that made the offer and hopefully took all of that into account. I probably never would have been able to afford one, at least not for awhile anyhow, so I guess I felt obligated to say soemthng not for only Grahams sake, but for any possible future pre-release offers from anyone. And again, I;m not critizising amyone from seeling them, everyone has there reason to sell them. Maybe I was off base and it's none of my business. It just seemed there were so many being sold that my intent was for people to think of the possible remifications before doing so, especially a site that gets as much traffic as headfi. I should of handled it differently and worded it better, but I don;t have that luxury. At best I can think for a few mintues before my brain turns to mush, so I just have to try and get everything out as quickly as I can and I can't afford to go back and re-read what I wrote becasue then I really get lost, and I can be thinking one thing, but something completely different comes out by the time it reaches my finger tips. It;s awful ahrd to try and make sense when you can't make sense.

I thought the Greens sold on here for the reduced price was Beta's so he could get feedback on them before selling them at full RRP

I have the #3 Green Solo and tonight it's hooked up to my AudioNote M2-B preamp's tape out fed from a Denon cdp. Usual quality interconnects and power cords, power conditioner, and into AudioTechnica ATH-W5000's. Playing a Flamenco/Electronica cd from "Frequent Flyer-Barcelona" 2 disk set.
I don't know that I've heard anything quite as outstanding as this, tonight. I disagree with Miguel that the AT's are overpriced as they have no peer at their price, Grado, Senn, AKG (even 1000's), Stax, IMHO. I've owned or spent time at Head-Fi meets with all of them and there's just more info from these cans, and as little coloration as it gets. Ancillaries help as well.
But, to the question of selling this Solo Green. If I really didn't like it or found no time to listen to it, I'd sell it, sure. But the music I get from this little beauty, it makes me make time for a listen. One of my true joys of life here. I've not been disapointed at any time with this amp.
When I got the offer from Rock Grotto to buy this amp at the price offered, I pretty much jumped at it. I guess that's apparent by the #3 on the back of it. So, yes, I feel a loyalty to Graham and to Rock Grotto, so much so, that if I were to HAVE TO sell it, I would offer it here first. Without the offer, I don't think I could spend the retail price here in the States, especially with the dollar's value against the pound. It would still be worth it, but a bit unreachable for me.
But, I'm not selling it.
John
