I personally don't think so but it will be interesting to find out what our "non Scottish resident" members think. Does the Union work for you, how do you feel about the United Kingdom (on a global scale) and do you possibly feel that breaking up "unity" leads toward wars and division? Just a few starter "prods" to get the discussion going.

This issue has been important to a large number of Scots for some time in that, for many, independence is seen as essential. So, if there's a NO vote the vociferous (and genuinely committed) YES group will continue, and continue, and continue to argue for Scotland's independence. Until independence is gained.
If, however, there is a YES vote the NO voters will just get used to it, and quite early on too. After all, why should't Scotland be successful as an independent nation? So, all in all, it's better to have a majority YES vote and get the whole thing done and dusted. Once and for all.
Looking to the future, my hope then is that both England and Scotland, Wales too, become close alies within Europe. We should be committed to a united Europe and work together to ensure a good deal for our countries.
I don't understand politics at all. It's just me shooting from the hip so-to-speak.

Erm.... ok..... let me digest this Derek...... What you are, effectively, saying is that Scotland would be better off independent (to shut the SNP up once and for all) BUT you would then like to see that "independence" reversed by forming strong ties with England , Wales and the European union? I believe that the SNP want to get "independence" from the UK and then join the EU, as well as regain the British (GBP) pound AND the QUEEN. I am starting to like this advert....... it has a more plausible "scenario" than "let's split the union to reunite the union:

I think that the plus and minus are pretty much equal. The British government is not doing jack shit for manufacturing and there just so many jobs in the financial sector that is screwing manufacturing and jobs even more. Every pence that is used to earn interest instead of support companies that provide jobs is wasted.
Whether the then newly formed Scottish government with the new Queen Martha Stuart would do a better job? Hard to say..................

Firstly my comments we're intended to sound lighthearted Mike... to reiterate I said "I don't understand politics at all. It's just me shooting from the hip so-to-speak".
I'll just say one more thing though and then I'll withdraw from this thread as I'm really not qualified to comment... other than if the Scots nation wants and needs independence then so be it.
I wasn't necessarily concerned about the SNP; almost every Scotsman I've ever met seems to enjoy running down England, the English and the English government. I've heard that routine in many a bar I've drank in or worked at I can tell you. It'd be nice if they no longer had to trot out the same old script.
