I was wondering if anyone has used the Chiara headphone amp as a preamp or has any opinions on the viability of doing so. I have a pair of John Linsley Hood monoblocks and the K1450 phono stage so I thought I might try for all JLH amplification.

£156 was a bit of a bargain. I highly recommend the K1450, it is a very good phono stage, easily the equal of Naim. I've actually got two of them, one in the Hart audio cases and one in custom casework.

If you are still looking for someone to work on this amp try www.valveamprepair.co.uk/ Go to the contact page and give the guy a ring to ask him if he can help. Even if he doesn't answer his mobile immediately, he will get back to you. He is a very experienced amplifier engineer. He works on a lot of valve amps and did a brilliant job on mine, but he also services solid state amps so he may take it on. His name is Dave Lane and he's in Gravesend.

I have a Teac T1 CD transport and matching D-T1 Dac. I have an Audiocom Superclock to install in the transport. However I have read that it is better to fit a clock to the Dac and have it also controlling the transport as a master clock. If I do this will I need a clock with dual outputs or can the leads to the transport and Dac both be taken from the single output on the Superclock?

I love the sound of the 965. I have a standard player and a discrete model with the discrete output stage, although I don't use them much these days. If you want to get your soldering iron dirty, Net Audio offers some straight forward improvements including varying levels of clock, a matching power supply and cap and I/C changes www.net-audio.co.uk/965discrete.html

The Hart Audio Chiara headphone amp has had rave reviews elsewhere on this site and I highly recommend the company's phono stage with matching power supply. I have had a number of quality phono stages and this blows them all away as far as I am concerned. I read a review of it that said Hart seemed to sell their products based on part count without any margin for design etc. I would be interested to see if Mike could make the same level of improvements to the phono stage as he managed with the Chiara.

If it's still for sale, I'll buy it. I'd like it up and running. Let me know payment details.

Please help a newbie. I have some shielded speaker cable. The manufacturer says the shielding should be attached to the 0v terminal of the amplifier. Where is that?
