Anyone come across this one? diykits.com.hk/then click on Citypulse EF3.01 PREAMP and HEAD Amp with remote control. Can't find any internet reviews/comparisons with other amps.

I asked Eddie Wu, it's $300. It weighs 4.5 kg!!! I didn't ask about postage so I'm not sure about that though. Looks a bargain, wonder how it sounds.

Most of the Chinese stuff looks good but that doesn't necessarily mean it will sound good. That "ampro" thing I bought looked lovely but it exploded when I turned it on, the MHZS CD player I bought looks good but it spends more time skipping tracks than it does reading them... looks mean jack shit, does the fckin' thing work and does it sound good that is the question? Citypulse electron.... yeh, a household name in the Hi-Fi world... I have no qualms about sending Citypulse electron $300 for this nice looking amp, in fact I'll buy two! Seriously guys, everything coming out of China looks good but without anymore to go on I'm not sure I'd want to gamble on something I'd never heard..... I'm sure a few others will and look forward to their impressions. The write up on that website is a bit twilight zone....... "the fanciers can fully enjoy the funny of DIY, is a really individuated PC Hi-Fi center machine." erm........... so it's an individualated DIY music centre built by a well known Chinese stand up comedian for Hi-Fi fanciers? "the original intention of development is making the music of computer system catch the effect of Hi-Fi sound" Computer system / Hi-Fi they don't belong in the same sentence "it is a Hi-Fi center machine that can relax pressure of the urbanite." What about us country folk? Is this solely for relaxing the pressure of urbanites or will it relax the pressure of non urbanites too? "21 century is a new generation" Really? thanks for sharing. "people like individuation and personal space" Nothing quite like a bit of individuation and personal space is there? you're not likely to get much of either if you're a stressed out urbanite living in the 21st century though ;D

Well, either the person who wrote the spiel or the translator had a good sense of humor anyway. :-)

What do you think sandyk? Will it sound decent? Looks an awful lot of kit for the money to me. The guy who supplies those DY2000 opamps is selling it via his site & he seems a top class chap. We need someone who's opinion we trust to hear this one.
Michael, you should ask for a sample - mod it with some tasty upgrades & then it's sales will soar big time.

Nigel Just because they claim certain refinements, doesn't mean that they are well implemented. One thing has me curious, if the amplifier is so damn good, why did they spend so much time detailiing how good the toroidal transformers were ? Surely that is only a small part of the overall picture ? You really need to see some unbiased reports about it's performance before comng to any kind of decision. It isn't exactly a cheap product, and prices seem to vary considerably. I tried blowing up their miserable little photo in Photoshop ,but not too many details were visible. Do they want you to see what is really there ? SandyK
