My old receiver out in the workshop has started to let out the occasional cracking sound so I thought I'd have a look on ebay and see what I could pick up another one up for.
Absolutely amazing! Some of these seventies classics (real beasts) were going for as little as £5 (yes! FIVE pounds!) These guys would have cost more like £500 back in the day and you just couldn't afford to buy one nowadays if they made them like that.
I've just won one like this (got it for £17):
New picture to appear shortly not fair linking to someone elses
Power Output: 20 watts per channel RMS into 8 ohms.
Harmonic Distortion: Less than 0,3%
Intermodulation Distortion: Less than 0,3%
FM Sensitivity: 1.9uV
FM Capture Ratio: 1.0
FM Harmonic Distortion Mono: <0,07%
FM Harmonic Distortion Stereo: <0,15%
Dimensions: 17.5 x 12,5 x 5.25
Weight: 18.25 lbs
A bit more than I'd expected to pay (considering they normally go for between £5 - £10 but at £17 it has got to represent astonishing value for money and bloody ideal to listen to the radio through out in the workshop SEVENTEEN QUID! what the hell would you get for that in audio land these days? A pair of valves if you're lucky.... this thing is built like a TANK, the knobs alone will be worth £17
Quite happy and will post pics of her when she arrives but, seriously guys, there's never been a better time to buy these old beasts they're almost giving them away at the moment
I love the look of this one but a bit more costly as it's been reconditioned.... still likely to go for a fairly cheap price though Have a look here
Have a look round on ebay for vintage receivers and if you spot some great bargains either post them here or keep quiet and buy them
