A common sight in South Carolina - it looks easy but requires many hours to complete an average basket, so $300 USD is typical for a ~12 inch wide item. MM/Noctilux, f5.6, 1/2000, ISO 800.

Hi Dale Is that lady sitting outside a cemetery ? Regards Alex No, but it sure looks like the outside of a cemetary, and there are several historic cemetaries within 1/4 mile in any direction. I don't recall what's behind that fence, but it's on Meeting street South of Broad street, where wealthy homes and private clubs are the rule.

Hi Dale, it's a long time since I have seen a black and white photo as good as that. My Dad is a very keen photographer and he used to take some very good black and white pictures. I am guessing from the reference that you was using a Leica camera, very expensive but beautiful cameras in the right hands - my dad used to own a Leica camera and a couple of Bronica's (not sure if the spelling is correct) but they were also very good camera's in their day. You will have to post some more when you see something interesting. Regards. Chris

She may benefit from a bit of "speed dating", that's no life for a sexy woman like that....... is she married Dale?

She may benefit from a bit of "speed dating", that's no life for a sexy woman like that....... is she married Dale? I don't know about her personally, and these weavers are very camera shy unless you pay up (she blocked the subsequent photos I tried to take to get the best possible take), and they have some interesting non-mainstream views on everything from A to Z. I know someone here who does ghost tours, and he says that some attendees make repeat visits, asking him about communicating with the deceased and other ghostly topics. He says that some of those people make him very nervous, since the tours occur after dark, and in and around graveyards. So I walk around taking photos, and more carefully at night, and don't talk to the superstitious. EDIT: A couple photo tips from me - one, don't photograph on-duty police if they can see you, and two, photograph the camera-shy from a safe distance so they don't throw anything at your camera.

Chris The b&w film days were good - you could shoot for the shadows and develop for the highlights, just like the famous guy used to teach. And the prints looked great. But digital b&w ain't so easy, even with a good camera. Or maybe it just seems harder because there's more resolution. So this is a learning process for me, and I hope to get some more good ones.

I must scan in some of my Dad's B&W photos, he managed to get some great shots back in the 60's (London mostly)..... "real" street tramps, St. Pauls cathedral, markets..... real post war London when it was still in pieces (in places) after Hitler's blitz..... I've always meant to scan them in but will definitely do so now. Nice photos BTW Dale

Nice photos BTW Dale Thanks - I was looking at that one time, to get a good scanner, then I found a service agency that did film scanning and guaranteed good results for a reasonable price. That made things a lot easier. But however you do it, I hope you can post some of those WWII London photos. It seems unreal sitting here that the crazed Nazis could actually launch raids on Britain. That put a quick end to isolation for all of us. Jeez - a guy in a Charlie Chaplain moustache and a cheap suit, raising that much hell.
