Awesome stuff Alex! Thank god some people still use their "ears" to evaluate sound quality / gear. You'll probably be dead and buried before you get any credit / recognition but that's the way of the World, unfortunately...... stupid people "set" in their ways will always be a barrier to progress

You'll probably be dead and buried before you get any credit / recognition but that's the way of the World, unfortunately...... stupid people "set" in their ways will always be a barrier to progress Hi Mike Well Greg isn't going to like this,( Greg is FAR from stupid , but Expectation Bias and ingrained training can be very hard to overcome) but I have just finished replying to an email that I received from famous recording and mastering engineer Barry Diament about a couple of comparison CDs that I sent him a little while back. They were burned to MAM Gold CD-Rs, which as an aside, when ripped back to a HDD for checking that the contents still had identical checksums, ripped WAY faster than identical copies on a normal Kodak CD-R. (Jeff C has already heard the Kodak copies of the same.) Each CD had sequentially 2 different rips of the same track. One CD had 7 different tracks, and the other CD had 8 completely different tracks. Barry has now confirmed hearing the differences, along with a lady with VERY good ears.(his wife !) They both reported that the "S" versions of each track sounded worse than the non "S" versions. The "S" versions were ripped using an external Samsung USB powered writer, saved to HDD, converted to .flac then back to .wav again, before being saved to the same Corsair Voyager used for saving the non "S' version tracks. Those were ripped using EAC as well, but using an internal LG BR writer powered via a JLH, then save directly to a Corsair Voyager using an external +5V JLH PSU and a modified USB cable. Kind Regards Alex

I did try an experiment the other day by gaffer taping two text books over my ears and in that instance TBH I could not hear any differences at all. Oh well some live and learn Great work Alex Take care

I was thinking more in the lines of Hitch hikers guide.....
Douglas Adams would have a field day with it.. may he rest in peace.
