Friday on impulse bought a pair of HD 650's. This was after listening to the HD 558, 598, 600. Was hard to choose between the 600's and 650's but felt that the 650's were better for the type of music I listen to most. Jazz and Classical Guitar.
These wil be replacing a pair of Grado SR60I.
I will be Amping through a Musical Fidelity X-Can V8.
I do have a question. I am considering the Little Pinkie SE PSU as an upgrade for the X-Can. Has anybody used it and is a it a worthwhile upgrade.
Cheers

I also have a V8 which has been modded so it's a little more hefty sounding than the original which I found a bit light sounding.
Since it has a lighter touch, the Senn HD650 matches quite nicely with it and the more headroom you can supply the better it is for them.
I have a very posh Little Pinkie attached in a solid metal case. It's tough as hell and is my favourite power supply. I love its solid build.
Whether it's worth getting really depends on your own sensitivity to dynamics. Some people can't hear it others (like myself can!!) Basically, the LP will supply better dynamics and better silences.
However, in hi fi, the funny thing is one person's world of difference is absolutely nothing to someone else!!!
I must admit, since being around on RG, I have found that the quality of the power supply is paramount to a good sound.

Thanks for the reply. I would agree that that you need a good powere supply for good sound. You mentioned a Posh little Pinkie, how is it different to the regular one

Mike made a small batch of 'tank' like Pinkies. The casing is metal and it's literally built like a tank. It's very heavy and I guess would have cost Mike a lot in postage, sending it around the world. It is awesome!!
The standard Pinkies are in plastic cases.
I have quite a lot of Little Pinkies driving amps here. Power supplies became a bit of a fixation with me once I heard the effects of them!!

I'm going to hazard a guess that the PSU in the Plastic or Metal Casing will not make a difference sound wise. Would that be correct?

Only started becoming interested in Power supplies when I had a strange thing happen. One day came home and there was a loud buzz from my system that previously had not been there. Long Story short, traced it to the wall wart feeding my portable telephone. It had gone faulty. Once I replaced it buzz was gone. So now I am looking to update all power supplies (where they are needed) So far have added a Pro-Ject Speed Box SEII and am waiting production of the linear power supply for the Phono Box RS. EDIT I will also be making some Power Cables (Shielded) to replace all stock Cables (220V) Dont believe in paying ridiculous money for power cablesa that that cost about 3 quid each to make.

Except there's nothing 'little' about a Pinkie!! The standard that should be the norm for all hi fi gear but unfortunately isn't.

It's a pity I can't get hold of the blue rocker switches any more but I think the green illuminated switch looks better.... less "common" than blue and green for "go" makes sense The red illuminated switch / red cable is best suited to the V1 / V2 series. I don't "think" there is any differences in sound quality between the blue evolution pro cable and the red evolution pro cable but if you prefer the colour red then it may subconsciously "sound" better than blue The "SE" version sounds exactly the same as the Special Edition, the only difference being it is housed in an ABS enclosure instead of an aluminium one. I stopped making the Special Edition as the price of the "UK made" enclosures almost doubled within a year..... I could have increased the price but decided to drop the "Special Edition" and put everything into the Pinkie SE instead..... The Pinkie SE has all the same internal parts as the Special Edition.

I was only being silly asking if there was a sound difference, but you are right if subconsciously you believe it to be it will be. Having said that sometimes people take things to the ridiculous extremes. I am quite happy with Green rocker and blue cable.
