Has anybody got any experience of this amp. How does it compare to say a XCANS V2.
I'm after a headphone amp for my HD 600. I've read a few things about it over on the Headwise forms and people say that’s it's well built and sounds great especially considering the price The seller (davidzhezhe on ebay) is also support to be very reliable.
Can anyone give me any more recommendations for an amp for HD 600's?

Hey,
It's an interesting variation of EF86-EL84 amp. It is well known and well studies (I think). Looking at the specs, I think you will not be sorry.
Only problem I see is that the output tube 4P1S is not very well known. I have searched all over and found that the only supplier is in China. I found that disturbing.
For one thing, you have no back-up supplier. I wouldn't go private importing with Chinese company. After all, you ain't ordering thousand units.

that offbeat driver tube is a major glitch to me personally because of not just the sourcing of replacements but the serious lack of choices AND information out there.
Probably a shitload of drop in or near drop in replacements but will require some homework with the search engine to weasle it out (grab ALL available data, compare one to another to get the truth then search for similiar)
off beat or hard to find tubes are usually a red flag though the amp may be worthy.
Kinda like owning a Delorean
Sidebar :a limited production run car made in Scottland until Johnno got set up---er I mean popped for possession of coke which was a full tilt setup to shut ole' Delorean down befor he was a major player in the mid level sports car market
Cool car but if someone whacks you where do you go for spare parts ?
With the amp it is a crap shoot on if or if not you will have access to replacement tubes ten years down the road and if you do what will the sample to sample cosistancy be and if production of the tube stops for whatever reason with no viable alterantives what then ?
Paper weight ?

The DeLorean was made (not very well) in West Belfast, between Twinbrook and the Lisburn Road to be precise.

I knew it was somewhere over there but the rest is close enough for hand grenade accuracy

Spare parts for a Dolores? DeLorean I mean.. No way! Stainless Steel wrapped around humidity soaking foam blocks presented as a safety cell propelled by a old French engine. Which means you can get cheap engine parts and the lights shouldn't be a problem. For the panel beating of stainless steel. Well. Looks fab though Stefan PS: one of the best car (technology/history) books ever: 'It was Fun' by Tony Rudd (spelling?)

Body work by Steel Wool and yeah would have been cool to see where the automobile would have progressed to if it actually stuck around a bit
