i'd just like to publicly join the growing ranks of pinky-believers -- mike has modded my trusty x-can v.2; i have been living with pinky's mods now for a good long month and, wow, what an amazing change! i've been having fun running vinyl and digital server music through it, and comparing it to the much-more-expensive singlepower mpx3 i have in another room. my general take: the mpx3 is more balanced probably, from top to bottom, but the x-can now is so much more alive and musical that, despite a little less bass response, the xcan is my preferred listen. it does a much better job imparting an analog-like sound to my server-based digital music library (big fan of the squeezebox, by the way), and is nice and warm without bloom. For any of you sitting on the fence, be assured this is a wonderful, giant-killer upgrade! i now rue the many months i suffered in ignorance of pinky's world. Tremendous to deal with, extremely knowledgeable and (even more rare in the audiophile world) able to effectively communicate that knowledge. thanks again, mike!

Hi Randall,
I wondered who it was giving me such high praise there until I checked your profile!
Many many thanks and I am so happy you're enjoying the music through your V2 once again. Did you ever get round to replacing the valves or are you still running the stock 6922's?
Your comparisons with the Singlepower amp are interesting and show "just" what a great little amp this is which can hold its head quite respectably in the company of "giants" Many have listened to the V2 (stock or modded) and many have agreed that it's one hell of a performer and, certainly, one of the best bargains in the headphone amp world bar none.
Again, thanks for your kind words and please do become an active member of the forum, there are plenty of interesting topics here and it's good to have you on board.
All the best.
Mike.
