You're like a tracker dog, Mike. Funnily enough, I tried a pair of Marley headphones in HMV last time I went out to one and they were ok actually. Not bad at all. Great basic headphone for mods. Well, I'm going to try a pair ..... let's see if they're fakes!!

I ordered a pair too Ian...... I think I prefer the look of the Peter Tosh range though..... will they compare sonically to the Yellowman range I wonder? The "House of Marley" ffs....... the world's gone mad Nevertheless... you're right, prime candidates for messing about with and @ £14.99 gotta be worth a punt.

You bought a pair too Ian? Yes, Mike. At that silly price, I'm quite willing to have a try and if they're no good, then try modding or give to my daughter. They've gone up to £24.99 today so he's hiked them by a tenner. I'm always interested in new gear; even cheapo stuff - just out of curiosity. I do wonder if those 7506 headphones are fakes, Mike. I have the V6 and although it still has quite an edge, it does sound more refined I think. I tried some House of Marley headphones out in HMV a few months ago. They weren't too shabby. OK actually, so if these get near at that price, then they'll be fine. I could use them at home with portable players. TBH, the best portables I have are the Senn ie8. They are amazing iem's with a bass that makes them sound as though they're full sized headphones. Biggest problem for most people is the fit but mine are customs. There are some tips though that are way better than the Senns for me - the Ultimate Ears ones. They seal really well and are made of harder rubber so they hold better. (I know you don't like iems's that much though) Those Triple Fi's use the same pads but I think you had a problem with them too didn't you? The secret is to grab the top of your ear and pull while you get them in and give them a twist as well as a shove. Once they're in, they stay and seal out all sound - but I seem to remember, you were listening to them not properly shoved in weren't you? I know that some people have a phobia about shoving things into their ears!! Ipod back has arrived so you don't have to worry while prising it off and battery should be here in a few days. Mike, do you want to hear the Beyer DT1350? I could send it up to you with the Ipod.

They are 100% "right" IMO Ian, I'll send you over my pair (I've recabled them) they're pretty "energetic" and revealing... see what you think, maybe you just got a duff pair.

I wonder how they got permission from him? There are loads of variants of the Marleys, I hope they're not all fat bass merchants.

I wonder how they got permission from him? Bob Marley's estate has been one big bitter legal battle ground unfortunately. Very sad. Here's just one tidbit:

Very sad. Familiies fighting over inheritance.
He would probably be turning in his grave seeing a brand of headphones named after him.
I've just got the email telling me they're on the way.
Here's a strange thing. I'm visiting my Mum who's now on her own because my Dad died nearly two years ago. The TV switched itself on for the beginning of Miss Marple - my Mum's favourite tv show. The old fella's scaring the bejaysus out of us and turning it on for us!!!!

It only seems like yesterday, hope your Mum is coping well Two years in March, Mike. Doesn't seem that long. Mum's fragile and I fear not much longer. Married for over 60 nearly 70 years so not easy for her to get used to. Having a Christmas Day with her today! Get the Reggae mixes ready!

Skip the reggae and go straight to the dub... Although some nice rocksteady... It's all da same to me!! Hefty bass with lots of tiny tinkys' on the closed high hat, the offbeat chink of the guitar and rattles on the sides of my head ....... I'm too old for that stuff. Need something much less exciting. The old skin'eads used to go wild for that stuff.

Ian, you would LOVE The Congos "Heart of the congos"..... It's more rock steady than dub and, IMO, captures that period very well..... if you like listening to recording studio artefacts this will be RIGHT up your street.... it's full of them! The tapes were rescued from a fire, you've got some real nasties in there but the quality of the music always shines through. Peace and love

The 'House of Marley' entered the building this morning. I was surprised how they sound out of the box, Mike. Not at all bad considering they were a massive £14. (He's doubled the price now) The leaflet with them is funny - 'honored' that I selected them. Some of the proceeds going back to Ilove.org. Welcome to the family .... Well, I checked out Ilove and accidentally typed in Olove. I was faced with connections to many 'gay' organisations!! It's easily done - check the keyboard. I got to Ilove and found that it's a Christian organisation linked into reggae etc. So nothing sinister. Hard hitting bass which didn't surprise me since we have the name 'Marley' here but what does surprise me is the treble. I expected to hear a muted, thick sound but it's not actually bad. It's not piercing (although a little muted) They sound almost like a 'loudness' button has been pressed on the Ipod actually!! (Bass and treble boost) However - £14? It has to be a bargain..... I think it could be a rival to Portapros actually. I wonder what the retail price is .... aha ... £45 - £50 Thanks for the 'nod', Mike, these are quite pleasant. Wait up - bargain price here - hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?sku=469318

It's still some kind of "holiday" up here Ian so doubt mine will come today.... they seem to take the whole week off up here. So, they are pretty decent straight out of the box? If so, £14.99 well spent

Crikey - Scotland's still recovering from the new year?
They were delivered here by courier, not Post Office. (Although down here, the PO are delivering today)
They're really not too shabby actually. I'd say recessed mids but very pleasant. I'm going to actually use these I think when no-one's around to see a Bob Marley pair of headphones on my head!! Nice, sturdy wrap up bag too.
