I know he's old, but I had no idea that Clint took a film crew out to WWII. ;D

I did not do anything at the time that was deserving of a medal.
Many did, some were given due recognition for their bravery.
To me, it was just doing "my duty".
Hated every minute of it, scared sh"tless most of the time, but carried out to the best of my ability what was expected from me.
A part of my life which i would much sooner have done without.
So no proud display of medals for being there, as far as i am concerned.
Mick.

Mick, I have a good knowledge of Fire Service humour and RAF Police humour - I just hope your service humour is of a similar type, given the flac that you and your medals are taking here . I for one would not have enjoyed flying a bloody great egg beater around in that scenario so any recognition you might have got was well deserved in my book. Nil illegitimum carborundum . Dave. Dave Perhaps I should make myself perfectly clear. I have nothing but admiration for Mick and his service in the Falklands. Any medals he received are well earned. I also have great admiration for another RG member who served his country in the R.A.F. before moving to the commercial side. Alex Alex, No need for any explanation on your part but perhaps there is on my part. The sense of humour that I was referring to is banter which may come across to outsiders as harsh (to say the least) but is fully understood as such by the participants - bit like the Aussies and the Brits . In no way was I being critical of anyone's post. As an example, I was a member of the local Fire Service SCUBA CLUB and on one of our boat dives an experienced member got a bend. He was brought to the surface and laid out on the boat in pain while the boat headed rapidly for the shore and asked about a helicopter rescue. While he was laid out on the deck, conscious but in great pain, his fellow club members gathered round him and tried to strike cheap deals with him to buy his diving gear as he would no longer need it. Everyone concerned, including the patient, enjoyed the joke and contributed to the banter but other divers on the boat were tut tutting with shock. It was the Fire Service way of dealing with the worse aspects of their job, which can be very stressful as you can imagine. I assumed that is something that Mick would be familiar with in the services - certainly my son was in the RAF police. Cheers, Dave.

Same here Mick. Below are some pics of my medal for general service in Northern Ireland in 1972. The shit box it came in - it's the first time it has been opened in 40 years the medal itself This medal was put in my loft as soon as I got it and it has stayed there unopened for 40 years - I am certainly not proud of it. Strange how the world changes though - Gerry Adams & Martin Mcguinness were the top two most wanted terrorists at that time, both are now politicians

I have custody of my late uncle's WW2 service medals . What he saw in New Guinea resulted in him becoming an alcoholic when he returned home. The Aussies supply lines were very poor and they barely survived, let alone give much food to Japanese POWs who resorted to cannibalism. This was hushed up until recently, and even now most would not know about that. Some historians claim that the Japanese did not intend to extend the invasion into Australia. This is plain unadulterated bullshit, as my uncle brought back some Japanese "Invasion Currency" that was specially printed for an Australian occupancy. Yes, I saw it and we played with it as kids. Strange how the world changes though - Gerry Adams & Martin Mcguinness were the top two most wanted terrorists at that time, both are now politicians That's how politicians work. You can get killed for their causes. Have they whole heartedly ever think about the country's sons and daughters that died for them? The great griefs and hurts of especially the mothers for their children? Yeah, they give them medals and state flags in return. But will that bring back anything of living? It's very different when we see things on films about killing each other. The truth is the real thing is real gruesome, senseless and will have a dent in your mind in your entire life to death. See how many war veterans from the Nam war are in mental hospitals?

Miguel, Here is what I did with some of my pairs: One pair of PortaPros that sounded pretty good from the start (they do vary in SQ), I modded by recabling with Mogami Mini Quad High Definition cable 2893 with some multi-filament sleeving for low microphonics, and the clarity improved considerably. Another pair, which had the same problem as you describe (too much bass) I modded by replacing the drivers with Koss KSC75 drivers, and the HF was much better at the expense of some of the bass. I also recabled them with Mogami Mini Quad cable 2893 and multi-filament sleeving. Both pairs, while different from each other, are quite listenable, and I use them at times for portable use when I don't want to use my Senns iE8 in-the-ear phones. Here are some photos: Cheers! Israel

Thanks for the pictures Israel. The Porta Pros have been burning in for the last week and I will be listening to them on Sunday. Will then post my impressions.

I am enjoying mine immensely, form cell phones, my tablet and my Sansa Clip+... amazing sound, in a light and so portable package.
I like the bass, and the treble is nice and smooth.
When they break i wouldn't mind to get another pair...

I have modded my PortaPro's and KSC35 by removing the plastic driver covers and replacing them with fine wire mesh. I then use Plantronics Supra Plus pads. IMO, the improvements very much improve the highs.
Miguel, next time we hook up, you need to take a listen to them.

I purchased a pair of Koss Porta Pro Classics for £23 yesterday. Wore them on my constitutional walk with my portable cd player. Enjoyable sound but the excess wind noise was troublesome. I should have worn my hat but it's been such a nice day up here on the West Lancashire plain. I'm happy though, got to be as good as my old Sennheiser PX100 and it means I have music on the move for the first time in a while. Probably some kind of in ear devices would be more suitable but at the end of the market I reside in, cheapskate chaps, I doubt there is any comparable equivalents.

Hey, I tried these out of my Pinkie Green Solo, using Goldenjacks attenuators on the inputs. My word! Sounds pretty damn good. I'm off to source a new headphone jack adapter tomorrow because I wasn't getting a very successful connection with my current one. I put this down to the right angle jack on the Koss.

They're only 15 quid these days on ebay. Ordered some, wonder how they compare with when I got some at Uni 20 years ago? Fraction of the price at any rate

Sorry for the ancient bumping but I just wanted to say that I prefer the sportapro for their more balanced sound. I was a portapro fan before as well by the way.
