I just purchased and received a quad set of G.E. labeled, "Made in Gt. Britain" 6922 gold pin "A" frame tubes with the "delta" 2 H 1 Amperex date code etched into one in the lower 1/4 of the glass. Each tube has a different date code and I can't make out any factory codes. A pair now sit in my Audio Note M2-B preamp and a pair in my Musical Fidelity X-Cans v.1....they sound fantastic. Deep, deep soundstage with lifelike timbre and musical coherence....very noticeable improvements over my RCA labeled Siemens 6dj8's.
But, I haven't found anyone that recognizes that Amperex may have made a gold pin "A" frame 6922. Although according to some, Amperex made a slew of different versions for different contractors, so.....?
Has anyone seen or heard of these? Thanks...J

I'm not the tube expert. Mike is. Also, why not ask Hansen here as linked to by DaveK in his thread : theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?p=383418#post383418Hansen is probably my fellow countryman. Wow, you have an Audio Note pre. Care to share your system with us. Must be quite a fascinating lot.

Thanks for the link, XTRprof.
I don't have money to eat, but I do have some Audio Note stuff....Preamp, DAC Kit (built for me) and turntable system. I have 4 headphone amps, a Slee "Green", an AudioAlchemy w/Power Sta. 3, MF X-Cans v.1 and a Vincent KHV-111 hybrid. Cans are ATH W-5000, AD-700, SR-125, HD-595, and AKG-702. Doug Jesse modified some items of mine...the Pioneer Elite PD-65 cdp, the AudioAlchemy headphone amp v.1, the Slee, and the MF with Mike's kit. As much as I love my Audio Note gear, I also have a one-off Croft preamp and his Polestar 1 power amp. Just great Croft stuff with simple circuitry. And both respond to tube rolling.
I see where Singapore has a great Audio Note shop website....I visited it a lot early on just to see the stuff. I also like "The Star" website. they have some great audio equipment reviews on that site.

Yup, Singapore has an Audio Note shop. Very expensive "Zen" type of stuffs in it. I don't have the cash to step into that shop. I think you being modest. You have an Audio Note Pre, Croft Pre and Power, an ATH-W5000 and a modified Pioneer Elite 65 stable platter cdp.

I've tried to accumulate equipment that sounds good, whether semi-expensive (this Audio Note pre) or high value (Croft and Rothwell, too).....My favorite speakers are Triangle Titus XS. $6K worth of amp and preamp (AN M2-B and Polestar 1) and $600 speakers. They are that good at opening up the presentation and giving me an interlocutor's eye view of the music. Tubes and Triangles....Phew!
But, hopefully we never stop learning....J
