Hi Everyone....it's been a while, like 5 years. Where has the time gone? I haven't given up on headphone listening, at all. But, I do have a question for anyone who knows.....
Is the first Musical Fidelity X-Cans, the v.1, a hybrid? Or is it tube output? I know little to nothing of circuits...I mean I can follow a simple circuit like my Audio Note Kits DAC 1.1 as it's looks pretty logical from where the power cord attaches, then follow the wires...and from the inputs in and then from the outputs, etc. I can open the X-Cans up and swap out the 6dj8's (Amperex Orange Globe "A" Frames in there now), but I don't see any transistors? Some op-amps in the output?
So, this is a curiosity question (redundant?) post. I believe I read where the v.3 is hybrid?
BTW, I had a hearing problem, but now I'm back to being able to enjoy the headphones again and can again tell the difference in tube sound from one manufacture to another. So glad of that!

V1, AFAIK, is op amp input and tube output. V2 is tube input and transistor ouput. V3 I think similar to V2. So technically all hybrid even if my tube, op amp and transitor orientation is out. Mike can answer you accurately as he's obviously the MF king here.

While I'm asking questions about my MF v.1....Is there a consensus of how long the pair of 6dj8 tubes should last in a v.1?

Well, judging from the many lookers and no more actual responses and/or corrections, you must be right on XTRProf, and thank you!.....JM

It's a bit like asking how long a car lasts? Depends how and how often you drive it........ Hence, no answers!!

Hi Rabbit, thanks....but according to Anthony Michaelson, the v.1 should be left on continuously. Tubes on my v.1 are lit up all the time...so just thinking. I've heard from some that the 6922 can be a 10,000 hour tube. How's about the basic 6dj8?
