I was wondering about tube rolling, which could offer the possibility of slightly 'flavouring' digital files. Rather nice.

Yes Ian, a real advantage IMO.... you can choose from the likes of 6922 E88CC 6DJ8 ECC88 6N23P 6N23P-EB and also mess about with different NOS brands.... this is one of the main reasons I really rate the T1, you can almost tune the sonic flavour to your own requirements by switching in different valves each of which has a unique "house sound" (as Rick would have said) the ability to alter the gain is ALSO a bonus and the fact that both gain switches and valve are accessible (without needing a screwdriver) is another BIG plus point!

It sounds like a great idea. The more I think about it, Mike. Normally people would go into equalisers which I'm not comfortable with tbh. Unless they're very good, they can be just another crude tone control but a clean output from a good valve is a great idea. I do like the Aune amp from the computer as well. A great unit and I think they're still going strong. I use mine quite a lot
No UK distributer for them yet? I remember getting the SS amp from someone in the UK

No UK distributer for them yet? I remember getting the SS amp from someone in the UK I may take the plunge on that one, one of these days, Ian. They are a company I really believe in and they deliver time after time in the sonics dept., as well as the aesthetics dept., the R&D dept. and the support dept.... they are hard to say no to

I agree, Mike. Not just your unbelievable packing skills but with Aune's great support, (as I found when the postal service couldn't find my house, and your repair skills too plus massive stock of tubes makes you a seriously good UK potential distributor.
I would always go back to a firm that was so prepared to take that loss on the chin when my Mini Ape went missing through no fault of theirs. I felt so guilty that I went around the area searching for it.
Candy was brilliant - especially as they did a deal for us all and their gear does actually sound good.

Hi Dave,
How are you getting on with it? I hope it hasn't exploded?
Mike.

Hi Mike, Not exploded it (yet ). I like it, a lot, but I don't think it's the best I've heard - please put that on hold for a day or two yet because I listened once and was mildly disappointed but the second time, a few hours later, with nothing changed, I thought it sounded much better. I can't explain it, other than perhaps my imagination or perhaps it had warmed up a little more the second time. Also, during the second sessionI swapped the stock valve for one with matched triodes and I could not discern any improvement. I've fed it both USB and analogue input and again found them very similar. One minor problem I have is that I tried to feed it only HiRes files but my HiRes folder is a mixture of all varieties of FLAC above Red Book and this amp will not play 192 files so I had to keep pressing the 'Next Track' button regularly. I stress this is only a basic initial interim report because you asked and I will do a more formal one in a few days. Because I expect to have it for a good few days I've not rushed the listening sessions but I'll give it a bit more ear time this week. The build quality (outer case etc) is very good, solid feeling and impressive finish etc. - nice looking piece of kit Dave.

Hi Dave, All of my albums are in itunes (apple lossless) so I haven't tried any FLAC files. I tend to find itunes easy to use and seldom have ANY problems with it (touchwood), from ripping CD's to playback it's pretty seamless. This is the idea of other people trying the T1 out though, it's not everyone who listens to the same stuff through the same "player" so it's good to hear of different experiences. Take your time with it

How are you getting on with it Dave? I've just come back from a gig and am devoid of an EASY way of listening to the vids I took on my phone..... the T1 would be just the biscuit, plug the bugger in and listen...... It's 3am and I am looking at (at least) 9am before I can rig something up..... Another plus point for the T1..... plug it in and listen, easy as pie In this day and age of INSTANT gratification / immediate response.... the T1 fits the bill..... point your "phone" in the general direction of a performing "star"..... come home and "plug and play"...... Ideal for those who can't be ARSED / don't have a dedicated rig / can't be arsed faffing about at 4am in the morning with interconnects and wallwarts....... Night night

Hi Mike, I take it you had a very good night last night then? - Great to hear, that's what life is all about, enjoying yourself without buggering it up for others ;D . TBH, because I was not under any pressure to pass it on the Aune has been back in it's box for a few days while I auditioned a pre-amp and PSU from another UK (bespoke) manufacturer - a brilliant set of kit and took my SQ to another level but at a price I was not prepared to pay, sadly. I just could not recommend it in terms of value for money so it's gone back in it's box for return to the manufacturer and the Aune will be getting another airing . Might be interesting to see if my opinion has changed in the meantime . When Ian is ready to give it a listen I'll ship it out to him 'poste haste'. Cheers, and sleep late , Dave.

Hi Dave, It was a great gig, a real shame about the support acts though.... standing about in a field for hours....... The yellow bear is not amused at the STATE this country is in: www.statusquo.co.uk/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=024496;p=1I was right up the front as well and, believe me, "smoking" wasn't the thing that should have been outlawed. We had been standing there since FIVE PM to ensure we were close to the stage... 4 hours standing in the pissing rain basically... about 10 minutes before the Quo came onstage there were some REAL "anti social" assholes who thought they were entitled to weave their way to the front..... one of them a drunken woman who claimed that "us girls should be allowed to the front".... a guy from Glasgow told her to eff off, I told her to get there earlier next time if she wanted a better "view". Non smoking woman was another one.... arrived at 8pm and wasn't happy with me smoking.... erm, I had been smoking since FIVE pm without any objection... I'm six foot four tall and there was ZERO wind so all of my "smoke" was heading up toward the ozone layer, not her sensitive nose. ACNE security guy (pimply yellow jacketed youth who thought he was TAGGART) was only picking on me because my smoking head was sticking out a few inches above the crowd but a couple of "fekk off asshole" type remarks saw him off..... the last I saw of him he was beating the crap out of a midget shouting "get back to the circus you freak, this is a non smoking venue!" The MAJORITY of smokers there were sacrificing a fag to PLACATE a minority of whinging bastards and my hat goes off to them for being so tolerant..... Personally, I don't have time for whinging bastards and they make me WANT to smoke more! Whatever happened to the time where we ALL went to a gig and came back home happy? I can't recall all this enforced (and people at the gig enforcing) shit where everybody leaves with the WRONG memory of the event..... We all go to ENJOY ourselves, some of us smoke, others don't, some take booze, others don't, some take drugs, some eat yoghurt, some ice cream, some like to dance in the nude, some prefer to wear raincoats..... what the HELL has it come to when a night out is "policed"? Pretty sad state of affairs I kind of get the feeling that masturbating in public is the next thing they'll ban Before you laugh, it didn't say that we couldn't masturbate at the venue....... No smoking but feel free to get pished (as long as you purchase your booze at the venue), masturbate, dance about in the nude, push your way to the front, beat the crap out of a midget, eat as much yoghurt as you like and moan like a moaning PC bastard who was bullied at school and wants to make YOUR life misery now he / she is part of a "council" of wankers. Nuff said..... great gig by the Quo tho. Mike.

So all you needed to make it complete was for the Quo to open with "Don't Waste My Time" in reply to the support acts and end on "Tobacco Road" ;D

Hi Mike Great to see that you enjoyed the gig nevertheless. . I also hate being told what I can and can't do, but these days , most likely mainly due to atmospheric pollution, there are many millions of people who suffer severe asthma attacks that can be life threatening. One of the major triggers for an Asthma attack is 2nd hand cigarette smoke. Soldering fumes are another that can start me wheezing Even a grandson (not by blood) needs to take Asthma preventative medicine with him when he plays soccer. Wanking, getting pissed, getting high and having public sex doesn't hurt other people ( unless you get hurt in the stampede to watch or join in ;D) Perhaps those who REALLY needed a nicotine hit could have tried a Nicotine patch just for the short duration ? BTW, my Asthma disappeared for several years after my 1st wife , who was a smoker at the time, pissed off, only to return after my son started smoking. In the unlikely event that somebody suffered a severe Asthma attack at the venue due to the non smoking stipulation not being properly enforced, the organizers could have had their arses sued off them. O.K. I will now go hide before you call me names and tell me to farcough too ! Kind Regards Alex

Can we get the T1 show on the road and dispense with the dispensing chemist type banter? The "T1" is being passed around with the idea that members have a chance to have a listen and do a small review..... Whenever you're ready Dave
