Hi Zigis. We have had a hybrid amp going around free of charge for us to test and review and there weren't many who wanted to be involved. It's now over in Spain. It surprised me that so few wanted to try it although Mike has sold quite a few of them now.
A nice little amp as well.
Sorry, I thought you'd finalised the idea with Frans concerning the power indicators. My apologies.
It would be a great selling point for an amp. High power. Rechargable with an indication of where the charge is to lengthen battery life. There aren't many amps with that.
I've done a lot of batteries in by discharging them too far. You're just not aware of it and before you know it, it's too late and they don't recover.
It's a really big problem with electric helicopters as well. I fly them here and it's no fun seeing a heli right up in the sky just drop like a stone because it has a damaged battery. We try to fly to a maximum of 80% discharge. No more or else it means the end of the battery.

Ian,
I think the problem with the hybrids is that there have been quite a few through the RG doors. From Muse, G2, Sunrise, sunset & whatever.
The T1 was the first I had interest in for a long while. (Damn fine value though)
As for the portable 3x9v there is you and me as buyers thus far, though I do get your point of a little lethargy of late.
Maybe once the design is finalised......

I guess there have been quite a few!! I was just informed of some bad English that I used - 'It's all underhand' ..... whoops. I meant to say 'It's all in hand' butr apparently it's not Dave!! There was me thinking Zigis had decided on a circuit!! Sorry. It's certainly not underhand.

Now back to 3x9V amp. I made and tested small battery voltage monitoring, schematic is attached. Wen voltage drop to 21.8V, LED2 turn off and LED1 turn in. I plan to use bicolor LED, lets say green/red. LED is amp's turn on indicator in the same time, wen green -amp is turned on and playing, wen color changing to red, time to charge.
Now it's time to PCB design for whole amp.

Here is 3x9V amp's PCB design with charger and battery status indicator. If no one can't see errors and there is still interest in amps, I can order boards after few days. And here is complete amp schematic:

All that voltage and no protective series output resistor for the poor little LM4562/LME49720 ? Also, the added distortion of directly driving a headphone cable with several hundred pF of capacitance when with that high a supply voltage available you can afford the inclusion of a small value series resistor.

Is anybody else interested in one of these 3x9v portable amps? I'd like one but a bulk order of , er, one is not exactly commercially viable! I know it's far from winter thoughts but next summer, when you find yourself lazing in the sun with your nice headphones on that wimpy portable amp you have now. You WILL be thinking, if only my portable had more oomph... I've heard a few and thought they were easily matched by my own bodged up cmoy. Power, I want more power

I didn't think this was going to happen, Chris and went and got a Neco 18v.

From my point of view, yes!! this would be a great little Amp, as i`m sure the T1 is, but i have Amps that are not being used that are gathering dust as it is.
I really don`t need anymore Amps at the present time, i have already sold some of my HP`s for the same reason.

PCB boards are ready. I am going to build one board and test everything this weekend.

One board are ready and working. Everything work perfect - LED switched color at 21.8V as expected, charger charge. With Lm4562 and gain 2 sound is really powerful and clean, like with my external regulated 24V PS, maybe little cleaner and more controlled bass (probably just placebo:) Now I am ready to offer amps.

Looking good Zigis. Is there a case for it or do we need to supply our own?

Thanks toad! I am waiting for black anodized aluminum Hammond 120x78x27mm enclosure and custom front and back panels. Both must be here 27.12.12 and after finishing this one will go to Spain, to cj.
Finished amp will look exactly like one in post 121, page 5 (maybe except volume pot's place is changed for few mm)
If someone is interested in amp, let me know, I have PCBs left and panels are ordered for more than one amp too.

Inside with PCB Again with old China batteries, just for testing Battery status indicator in work Upper image - battery voltage in good condition. Lower image - battery voltage too low, requires charging. Actually LED's color is red here, just bad camera.

Yes, it arrived yesterday. Unfortunately the batteries I orderd originally were a no-show so I have a new, very recent order to wait on (they're too piggin' expensive locally!). I've also changed the vol knob already to something I prefer. All set and nowhere to go

Couple of questions Zigisg:-
Does it come with a charger!!
What will be the cost including shipping to the UK.
I have one of your earlier models, which i really like, so hopefully this should be even better.
Mick.
