Good idea and good marketing.
I just don't need another headphone amp at the moment and nothing else on the site appealed right now BUT popped into favourites...
That psu is probably worth it for the caps alone!

Alex Hi Alex, I have the kit on the workbench, waiting for my solder to get here in the new year. Looked at the AK Mod BOM and then saw this. I was hoping. Cheers.

Got my boards yesterday. Good quality ;D (no, really)
Parts count is low - nice. Anyone know where I can get TO220 2N3055s? Preferably without large postage costs for just 4 of them.
Rob.

Hi Rob Look for TIP3055. They should be readily available from RS and Element14 (Farnell) too. They aren't TO220 , so check the dimensions in the data sheets for compatability. Regards Alex

Hi Rob Nice work i really like the chassis. where did the Aluminum come from? take care Thanks. A mate on Diyaudio sourced the very nice heatsinks and got some Ali off cuts so that we could construct a case. As my mantra is is "measure once and then bugger it up", I don't think it went too badly, as I also had to line up all the tapped holes in the sinks and then drill the top and bottom panels.

That's quite tatsty looking "Tatsty"? What's that? That Greek yoghurt, cucumber and mint dip thing? Or maybe a poorly put together Cornish meat and vegetable pie? ;-) Derek

Hi Rob Nice work i really like the chassis. You have done a fantastic job there Rob, I hope my XA-50 power amp project comes out half as good when I eventually get around to starting it.

Thanks very much. I always feel that DIY is worth it and if it works at all it sounds soooo much better than the commercial stuff

Shaun, here is a link to the Diyaudio thread on this amp. Will take a lot of reading so in short it is a 10W Class A design. DC offset should be as near to 0mv as possible. There are 3 variable resistors that take care of reducing the offset and setting the gain. It is quite a time consuming business to get it right. www.diyaudio.com/forums/solid-state/3075-jlh-10-watt-class-amplifier.htmlRob

I have a couple boards in kit mode (PCB was free but the shipping not, so the kit was a better deal). I'll build it sooner or later, but i'm definitely not fond of the BD output transistors i got with it. Every part look original, though.
