I'm looking for a subwoofer to assist my technics speakers and I've only been considering used Rel so far. Does anyone have any recommendations in this area - nothing too massive.

I have a REL stampede. I bought it used and I'm very pleased with it. Having said that, I've never compared it to any others.

Oh, the hifi nuts here like Rythmic and SVS going in at neck to neck. If you have the mula, JL Audio is the favourite here. REL is so yesterday by now here.

Well it still manages to flap my trousers. That's why I always have an amusing look at how commercial works. At one time, M&K, REL and Velodyne were the top raves of hifi mags. Then SVS followed by Rythmic, Hsu and for those going higher, JL Audio. Emotiva is coming with 230 VAC models. Now there is a lot of people throwing out REL like AKG 701 and 702 after all those rave reviews. The writing is always on the wall.

all of the used rel on ebay keep going for silly money, well silly imo for 10 year old stuff.
Needs to be reasonably small which might rule out diy. Anyone tried bk subs?

I've got a first generation REL Strata you can have for a reasonable price if you wanted.

Also take a look at AV Talk Subwoofer tests at.... www.avtalk.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=54BTW - still happy with my little M J Acoustics Reference 150. Not perfect but it does a good job and is very unobtrusive. Derek

I've found a 2nd hand BK gemini which if you can believe what you read on the internet is the same / similar to a MJ ref 150. I'll post a picture once its arrived and setup
