That could be the answer to falling CD sales. A hi res copy on SD cards. Especially if they're not sold immediately on somewhere like Amazon.
It would help the industry a lot.

Imagine a wallet full of music. Or going into shops and instead of buying a CD, you buy a chip. That could be on the way maybe? With memory going down in price, it is rather convenient to stash up a load of music on them and just swap them in and out. Makes sense really. All of your Yello collection on one chip, all your Mike Oldfield on one chip... so on an so forth... I wonder if you can buy a Micro SD "wallet" where the chips clip in and you can label each one.... instead of CD's you would have (say) 20 WAV albums on one 16GB chip (each WAV album is about 600mB or thereabouts).... MUCH better than whacking everything onto a 30GB ipod compressed to fekk.

I've got 8 Micro SDHC cards, ranging in size from 4 to 16GB, which I keep in their SD adapters (to make them less losable!) inside one of these. Although one 8GB card still has MP3 files (Wagner Ring, plus all his other operas, plus loads more classical!), the rest now carry FLACs: these cards and my Sansa Clip+ are my essential holiday companions! (And if you're wondering how I got so much music onto one 8GB card, it's because I ripped them back in the day, before I'd learnt about bit rates, etc., and how to alter them in EAC, so it's all 192kbps.)

Yer old Grado 'phones aren't too bad with the Fuze+ I have tried the SR-60 / SR-80 and SR-225 and all of them seem to have good synergy with it... decent volume levels too (Fuze+ drives them well)... I've never been a great fan of the Grado 'phones but paired with the Fuze+ they seem to be just right... a nice tonal balance, plenty of energy and fizz with a lovely deep and tight bassline.
Obviously "not" the ideal 'phones for walking about outdoors with but, seeing as I don't walk about outdoors with them on, I don't care.... another pair (or three) which mate very well with the Fuze+
Anybody else tried this combo?

I sometimes use the 125i with it, Mike. The 'i' versions seem slightly mellowed to me. In fact, I wrote to John Grado when I received the first 325i in the UK asking what had happened to the gold and the sound - I felt that it was slightly more 'rounded'.
He agreed and said that they did something to the drivers similar to Alessandro's. Stretched them or something so the effect was to take a little edge away.
It was quite funny because I got nasty with the shop that sent them and asked why they had sent the old sr325's. They insisted they'd only just got them in so I wrote to John Grado as a result of that!!
They hadn't told people that the new one had gone back to silver.
Anyway, I quite like both the sr80i and 125i from the Clip. They're also good from the Neco.
No really deep bass on them but they have a pleasant bass hump which gives the impression of a big bass!!

That's odd: I thought I had 325is, but they're gold. In any case, I can't be doing with them: they're supposed to be the dog's b*ll*x for Naimites, but I prefer the £13 Skytronics, especially taking into account they're about 4% of the Grado's price!

The old 325's were gold and they suddenly went back to silver with the addition of the 'i'. Slightly more mellowed off than the other version and I'd prefer them to the Skytronics!!! Fantastic with acoustic music but a bit edgy for yer rock stuff. I go to the good old DT990 for that. The Grados are a bit of a rip off in the UK. They don't seem to ever cut their prices in sales here. The 125i was a surprise to me. They've gone back to the flat pads and it's warmer as a result. The old version was thin tbh.

I had the gold 325 (you can see them in the banner) they were like torture devices on my bald head... they seemed to chop into the side of my head and the sheer WEIGHT of them kinda put me off.... I think I had them for about a month before moving them on to somebody who had hair. Ian, the modded SR-60 (the wood jobs) are particularly good with the fuse and, if truth be told, I prefer their signature to both the SR-80 and SR-225.... the only pair that are "stock" are the SR-225.... the SR-80 have been recabled and the SR-60 have been recabled and "woodied". I'm going to lend all three to Sam (bike shop) for the weekend, he has a Fuze+ too and has been trying a few of my headphones.... he mostly listens to classical and has a damned good pair of ears about him, he also knows what he's listening for.... quite a good allrounder what with the helicopters and ears

Most of the images Google throws up for 'Grado 325i' are gold. How does one distinguish the 'i' from the non-'i'? And, while we're on about it, how does one tell a 325is?
I definitely thought I'd got the 325i, but I got them off a mate, so he (and therefore I) could be wrong...

The "i" is silver.

Someone needs to tell Amazon! They have the 325iS as silver...

I've just found Ian's original thread about this on another forum; subsequent reading around confirms that the 325i is gold (introduced for Grado's 50th anniversary in 2005), with the 321iS (2009) reverting to the silver colour of the original 325. Both the 325i and 325iS have bowls, as do mine.

Oh - are there three versions now? The one I had was silver and I wrote to John Grado about it. I thought the 325i was the new version but it seems the 325is is the new one? 'i' stood for improved so I'm not sure about the 's'. I wish they'd stop naming them so close!! I had the first one in the UK. I had a look and it seems that the 325i IS the one that I had but now they have added an 's' to it. (Probably stands for silver. Same as the 325i but different colour cups?

The 325i (which is gold coloured) is apparently a big improvement on the 325, and the 325iS (chrome, rather than aluminium?) is a small improvement on the 325i... ... allegedly. Ah, the joys of the Internet: I can always find something that reinforces my point of view!

I prefer the Alessandros if I'm honest. Bit more mellow.

I stand corrected.... my SR325i were golden coloured... bloody horrid things unless you had a head that was made out of wood.

The original 325 were black plastic. So that would be the 325-i=BP ?

The 325 with circum aural pads sounded nice...
Regarding the Clip Plus, I have been checking out if there is a good replacement but on specifications alone finding something else is difficult. For the price/performance ratio the Clip Plus is very hard to replace...

The Sansas seem to have a very robust sound. I use the Clip Zip all of the time. Being able to change cards gives a massive amount of storage so you can store uncompressed files. Very cheap too.
Where do you get cups for the Grados?

I wonder what happens when the battery dies, chuck the Fuze in the bin and buy another one or faff about prising it open to fit a new one? IMO, that's the major "downside" of these things... they are essentially disposable to most people, I mean what normal punter "on the street" is going to bother even attempting to replace the battery?
I replaced the battery in my iphone and it's absolutely ridiculous that you have to strip the damned thing down to get to the battery.... why don't they provide a little hatch that you can pop open? I'll tell you why.... because they WANT you to throw the thing in a landfill site and buy a new phone / mp3 player.... not exactly "green" is it?

I agree Mike. Such a waste.
Trouble is, they know that kids change them like their socks so don't bother about batteries with units selling at £40 or so a pop.
Such a pity and an easy 'update' for a new one.

Where do you get cups for the Grados? I sold some headphones and the sale became a headphone meet at my place. JJ brought a MS-1 with built in extenders for the drivers and full size bowl pads. He modified his MS-1 to a MS-1(000) in his own words. The SR325i he brought was stock. I think he found a specialist for the full size pads or bought them from the U.S. dealer directly.

Such a pity and an easy 'update' for a new one. It's the same with these rechargeable shavers... as soon as the battery packs in you're expected to bin the bloody thing! Some of them are over £200 too.... It's a racket, plain and simple.... there is no reason why these things can't be fitted with "user replaceable" batteries other than corporate greed. When you think about it and realise how many of these items get binned every year across the globe it just shows that all this "green" stuff is just bullshit! These so called "green" SMPS power supplies that pack in due to the cheap parts (just repaired a Thomson sky box SMPS and it was the SECOND time the guy has had to replace the capacitors in 4 years!!) and all this other so called green stuff is FAR from green! Give me one good quality item that will last a lifetime over all this throwaway rubbish any day.
