Hi Christian, Hope you (or the mods) don't see this as thread crapping and in no way am I entering into competition with you in your headband mini-business but I thought there might be some interest in my solution to the 'sweaty headband' problem. All that's needed is some sticky-backed felt/baise material and a pair of scissors: - If possible please try to ignore the mass of long grey hairs - we have 3 Persian cats . In the 'flesh' the colour is forest green rather than the turquoise that it appears on my monitor. Cheers, Dave. I don't think that your work is a competition for business. To be honest: It's not a real business. I guess the demand for textile headphones isn't very strong, at least if we only look on the RG members. I can't sell thousands of them. In fact, I do like your work. It's another approach that some people could like. IIRC Claus was the first that made custom headbands (from leather) and therefore I'm not the first who makes headbands. RG is all about new ideas and sharing knowledge. At least partially, I've expected to see people that would use/modify the idea and make their own headbands. As stated above, Claus has inspired me also. To have a choice is great. Now we have already the choice between leather, textile and felt headbands. Your approach of using the original plastic headband as base for some coating material could offer a lot of new possibilites. BTW: What about punching some quite big holes into the original plastic headband? AKG has sold some K240 variants that had exactly such a headband (with holes punched out).

Hi Christian, The headbands have been here for a few days it seems but I only found the envelope today by luck! I was fitting in a new washing machine and when I pulled the old one out there was a letter under it..... from you! Postman comes in to the house and leaves packages on top of the worktop above the washing machine, I can only assume that when he shut the door a gust of wind hit the letter and it somehow made it's way under the machine.... Anyhoo, they are here and look really cool.... many thanks man, I wasn't expecting these I will fit the chequered flag onto my HD-681 tomorrow, take some photos and report back. Cheers.

BTW: Do your cats also wear headphones? If yes: Please post pics. Not that I've seen them but, when we are in bed they have the run of the rest of the place so it's possible I suppose . As all the dust that slowly settles on everything in our house seems to contain long hairs I cannot be sure either way . If I can get one to pose long enough with the headphones on I'll post it . Cheers, Dave.

Nice looking Headband Christian,
If mine still had the original fitted i would have ordered one from you, but Claus took a lot of time and effort making me a leather one which i am keeping.
Excellent work though!!

Excellent work though!! Mick. If I remember correct, you got number 3 or 4 of the bands I made.. So you are wearing Frans´ old leatherjacket on your head, quite a few of the regulars are wearing that old jacket.. I look forward to the headbands Christian is sending me, they look pretty cool.. It is a good idea from Christian and pretty easy to do, an old sportsbag, with a nice shoulder strap, cut it to length and shape, punch holes. Seal/melt the ends with an hot (old) iron, the holes can be sealed with a heated screwdriver or something like that..

I still haven't fitted the chequered headband Christian.... I tried it yesterday morning but think I may have to enlarge the holes ever so slightly as I couldn't get the surfaces of the clamps to mate together (HD-681).... I'll use a soldering iron to enlarge them slightly.

First of all, please excuse my late response in this thread. The last few days have been quite tiring for me, I was working most of the weekend also. I was totally tired afterwards.k HD250 Linear and/or AKG K701 in the future? James The big questions are: Are textile headbands really suitable for these 'phones and will I be able to make them. Personally, I do like the stock leather headband of the K701/K702. But I know that many don't like it. The HD250 Linear could be a more appropriate candidate, but I have to check that first. I have a HD560 OvII and these have a similar headband that is proably identical. I've loaned the HD560 OvII to a friend. It could take a while until the HD560 OvII returns to me. I will be changing back and forth from time to tme from Claus's leather headband to yours. When your HD681 has arrived PM me. The bordeaux textile is one of those that are very sensitive to heat (compared with the other textile materials I have). IMO the other colours, which are easier to seal, are better overall. In case you'd like one (or two) of those, simply send a PM to me. I hope to get the HD681 this weekend (It was sent to address where my parents live. It's easier for me to get it there since I'd have to go to the post office otherwise. The post office has opening times that are unfavourable for me.) Nice looking Headband Christian, If mine still had the original fitted i would have ordered one from you, but Claus took a lot of time and effort making me a leather one which i am keeping. Excellent work though!! Mick. Hi Mick, send me a PM if you want a freebie. Please specifiy a colour if you do. I hope you'll like the second colour. Sure, you don't need much things to make your own textile headbands. The quality of the textile that is used for shoulder straps could vary, but I guess a lot of those shoulder straps should be suitable for headbands. Don't forget safety belts, this textile material could be worth a closer look. I still haven't fitted the chequered headband Christian.... I tried it yesterday morning but think I may have to enlarge the holes ever so slightly as I couldn't get the surfaces of the clamps to mate together (HD-681).... I'll use a soldering iron to enlarge them slightly. Atb mIKE. Your headbands are of the second batch and have the tightest tolerances so far. It should be possible to use a soldering iron for making the holes bigger. If it doesn't work out for you, I'll send you a few new ones (with bigger holes). The third batch and following headbands have holes that are almost exactly in the original size of the SR850 headbands.

Cool stuff Christian! The bordeaux and chequered flag colours look nifty. Good luck and have fun ps once you are in full production mode I'll get back to you Christian, You are very naughty boy! Very generous too Thank you very much. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Instead of waiting Christian sent the above two bands to me, I received them by surprise yesterday. I felt obliged, in the nicest way, to fit one immediately when I returned home last night. Plus, it was a good excuse for me-time! Very comfortable and look fab! Oh, and Ted says they are real groovy. Thank you again Christian

I have a few more textile headbands in the pipeline. A lot of work is already done, but my time was quite limited in the last few weeks.
I was also very tired in the last two weeks. It was very hot last week, but last Friday, temperature dropped by around 20 degrees Celsius in only a few hours. Now we have already autumn weather.
I'm curious if K340 owners would also appreciate a textile headband. I don't have K340's (and I won't get a pair), but if anyone could post a few pictures of a K340 headband and would provide the exact measures, then I'll look what I can do. If someone would volunteer as guinea pig, I'd send him (of course) a freebie for testing. I need only one volunteer and I'm also not sure if it's really possible to make a good K340 headband replacement. But I'd like to find that out!
I've bought also a few more torch/jet-flame lighters and I'm also looking for other heating devices for sealing.

I still have some headbands in the pipeline. The main problem at the moment is time though.
I can't promise anything, but I hope to continue with the work in spring. At the moment, it looks like I have a lot of work in my job at least until spring.
A new member from NY have contacted me recently about textile headbands and, luckily, I had still a few headbands around. Supply is limited for now, but if you need a textile headband urgently, don't hesitate to contact me. I'll look what I can do.

did anyone send you K340 measurements, if not I can send you the info required No one did so far. You don't have to hurry since I don't have much time at the moment, but K340's will be a great object for textile headbands. Most K340's are very old and their headbands are in a likewise condition. It would also be a nice progress in the looks department. Do you have the possibility to measure in cm/mm? It wouldn't be too complicated to convert from inches, but it would be more comfortable (for me...). I don't know exactly how the K340 headbands are affixed, but I hope that it won't be a problem to use textile materials for that.

The headband of the K501 fits the K340 pretty nicely with very little fitting required.

the length is 29cm, but they taper at both ends into a plastic enclosure where a small screw is used to keep them in place, if you pm me your address I will get my daughter to send you in the post an exact drawing (life size) with measurements
