[glow=red,2,300]WOW![/glow] The headphones are in the wrong place, but not for long. Just allowing some burn in before diving in 100%. Had a listen though and it does sound great. It's not perfect, but I haven't sussed out the cables or improved my cans yet. For 120 bucks, not bad at all. Has a scratch on the top cover that you can't see in the photo, but Peter very quickly handled the issue. I'm impressed so far. Attachments:

Hi, it's a nice combination. Ipod and Indeed go nicely together. The Indeed will add slight warmth to the slightly clinical Ipod!! I really like this combo. The Indeed was better sounding for me than the Bravo and the Miridiy. Volume comes up a tad fast though. I bet that this is the start of bigger and more money being spent!! Ian

Have a Project Sunrise on the way. Blown my budget for the year. On a positive note. I talked to peter about the volume knob and I think a greater radius would make it easier to make small adjustments. I'm actually contemplating putting this thing in a modded case with a couple quiet fans... Thinking about putting this on it's side with some clear rubber feet. Put some holes in for the knob and jack. Wired the power switch to the indeed's switch and use the power source for the case to power the fans.

I still can't get my head round what is being classed as a "system" these days but, yes, that should sound half decent.... enjoy it! Have a few beers, relax and listen to your favourite album.... get into the zone Mike.

Yes, a few beers, chill out and listen, perfect.

Yes, a few beers, chill out and listen, perfect. I didn't mean that in any derogatory or "snobbish" way Mick.... I still cannot get my head round the fact that CD is almost obsolete and I still cannot get my head around the fact that people are using devices smaller than a packet of fags as a "source".... it's amazing. Mick, please don't keep misinterpreting everything I say.... this forum (which I started) is still all about the "best bang for the buck" and just you thinking that I was putting the OP's system down tells me that you really don't know me at all and are too fast to pounce on things without realising that most statements have more than one meaning. For future reference.... I am PRO "bang for the buck" and ANTI "audiophool snobbery"... always have been, always will be. I will say it again.... I am AMAZED at what is classed as a system these days.... my little Nano, ibasso and Bose IEM's give me a level of performance that would have required something the size of a domestic fridge to replicate back in the day... I am AMAZED! Remember, also...... who was it who introduced the Indeed / bravo amps to this forum? Just felt I had to say the above to remind you of where I am coming from.

Has a scratch on the top cover that you can't see in the photo, but Peter very quickly handled the issue. I'm impressed so far. What valve (sorry... "tube") came with it? Are they still shipping it with the Electro Harmonix EH 6922? If so, they are pretty decent valves and "current" production.... they are actually built identically to the 6N23P-EB but they are now marketing them as "6922 / E88CC" to make them more accessible to the audio world. Pretty much the same specs as the 6922 but their true title is 6N23P-EB. The current production Electro Harmonix valves are not "true" EB though as they do not have to pass OTK standards (Russian military standards).... all NOS 6N23P-EB were intended for military use and had the OTK stamp on them. You CAN tell the difference if you closely inspect an EH 6922 and a 6N23P-EB under a magnifying glass.... the construction / build of the 6N23P-EB is a lot tidier..... and so it should be.... the 6N23P-EB was made by skilled employees who worked in a thriving industry.... valves were still big business in the military even in the mid 1990's! As soon as the cold war was over and transistors entered the party (Big time) most of the valve manufacturers went out of business..... Many years later a few enthusiasts / entrepreneurs decided that there was a "market" for valves with audio enthusiasts and they opened up a couple of these defunct factories / bought the machinery etc. and went into "current production" mode calling themselves fancy names like "Electro Harmonix" or "JJ tubes" etc.... Unfortunately, all the skilled workers had gone when the Valve era ended so these new ventures just didn't have the know how to produce anything as good as the original staff could..... it is getting better now and Electro Harmonix valves are a lot more "consistent" than they were a few years ago..... I hope they continue to improve to the construction standards of the old cold war 6N23P-EB Tex.... one little tip for you..... site the amp as far away from the wallwart as possible and as far away from any partnering equipment as is doable.... this will minimise any potential interference. Mike.

Yup, the EH6922, though I don't really know what I'm looking at on the inside. It seems to me some of the connections are broken, but I haven't got a clue. Thanks for the tip on the "wallwart" (LOL, had to google that one). I have not noticed any interference of yet, and have this on my bedside table for Saturday afternoon chillin. Odd thing did happen... I have the remastered edition of Houses of the Holy. For the life of me, I can not create or find a clean copy of The Ocean. I have ripped directly from CD, Listened directly from CD, downloaded from the net, and on multiple systems... In multiple spots on that track there are distortions, clicks and pops. Weird... Never really noticed before, but now that I've heard it, it bugs me

PS, I'm VERY proud of my little 'system' I love the bang for the buck approach, and couldn't get the sound I wanted unless there were affordable options out there. I have no buyer's remorse thus far, unless there's something fishy with the tube. The iPod I built from parts is probably what I'm most proud of. If I could solder, I would build an amp myself.

For car use, I've found this to work pretty well in my Suburban, but in my wife's caddy... Not so much. Attachments:

I didn`t think for one micro second you did Mike, you obviously don`t know me very well either, because had i thought that, i would have mentioned it in my reply.
The fact is, that you do not have to spend a fortune (especially where HP`s are concerned) to get a great sounding system.
For sure most of the top end equipment will sound "better" hooked up together in a system, but certainly SQ will not rise in the same ratio as the price increase.
So i really can not see where your coming from with regard to me "pouncing on things" !!.
You mentioned systems, i just replied that basically, it doesn`t matter what a system comprises of, or how much they cost, as long as you enjoy it.
Mick.

Built this iPod for a guy in central Texas. Hope he's happy. Hard for him to complain. Did it at cost

I have now ! Sounds like a cool concept, but pricey. Maybe Christmas. Also a shame that I would have to get it from UK...

$99 for a device that does iPod digital output is not bad at all, given the price of the alternatives (~$300 for a Wadia 170, ~$250 for the Onkyo, $580 for the Cypher Labs Solo). No idea why they advertise a 24/192 DAC so heavily when an iDevice can only play up to 16/48 though...

Btw, everybody, do the Is always changed the external connection interface all the time when new versions come onto the market? Then the I-20 will not be useable later then ...............
