plain Panda built in galaxy case, nothing out of standard in the built but the sound is fantastic. If the chiarra is a good amplifier, this is a stellar performer. Is better then chiarra in evrything: pace, bass, voice..... also better then the small rudistor, with every headphones tried, the JFloat sonds as never, the Denon D2000 now have PRAT , and the HD25 is incredible . So now the panda take the chiarras place. After using the panda I felt the need to improve the source, so added linear PSU to squeezebox, and an Rdac with exposure 6 power supply. and the sound from the panda improve on every upgrade. Thanks to Mike for the fantastic kit , and to mcrede for the great guide on his site.

Some lovely tidy builds here, but must admit to being partial to the modushop cases. Mike, the toggle switch looks just the job, would you share where you got it from? Hi Will, JPR: www.jprelec.co.uk/store.asp/c=1043/Industrial-toggle-switchesI have plenty of them, if you'd like one I will send at cost price + 50p for postage. Mike. Happy to say this beauty is now mine. many thanks Mike, sounds superb. looks cramped in there i know, will have to re-arrange my desk

Glad she arrived safe and sound Simon The second head-socket is not connected but you can connect it when you feel like having a play about with the Panda.... the socket that is connected is about 75 ohm so you could make the second one any impedance you like giving you the choice of two output impedances for different 'phones. You can also play about with the voltage over the 1k5 resistors.... I set it at about 1.35V per channel but you can up it to 1.5V for more grunt (check out the panda tips and tweaks thread). It's a lovely amp and will hopefully last you a lifetime. All th best, Mike.

"check out the panda tips and tweaks thread" Mike are you refering to the "panda build" thread?

As you stated "it dont, it's leagues above" i have even listened to some tracks today that i dont like, just cos it sounds so much better.

A bottle of scotch will take you into the twilight zone of sound with the Panda........... Enjoy the trip. Mike.

Hi Zag, Beautiful! Where did you get the enclosure from? All the best, Mike. Hi Mike, Made of two blocks for amplifiers, “1907-B Aluminum Power amp Enclosure / mini amplifier BOX Case DIY” and ” B18-HB Full aluminum headphone amplifier chassis / AMP Enclosure -- Black panel”, took on Ebay.com, and he then refined. Amplifier is built on resistors Vishai Z-Foil (VAR), Caddock MK-132, MP-930 and so on. Now these components are assembled Beta22 - Beta Crystal. Andrey (ZAG18).

How does it sound Andrey? I've got about 4 Panda kits sitting out in the workshop and must do something with them, now the weather is starting to improve. I've got some lovely sheets of solid Bubinga wood and may well make my own enclosure out of that and line it with copper tape.......
Mike.

Andrey, I see you are using the Khozmo stepped attenuator, this is something I was thinking of using in a pre-amp project.
What are your views on it, the good and the bad points and have you compared it to others?

This is where I began to describe the sound of Panda Royal Class in comparison with the classical assembly Pandas collected from KIT set. Starting from the post №331 and further, can be translated by a translator from Russian language, such as use by Google. forum.doctorhead.ru/index.php?showtopic=25793&st=325

Andrey, I see you are using the Khonzo stepped attenuator, this is something I was thinking of using in a pre-amp project. What are your views on it, the good and the bad points and have you compared it to others? I like Khozmo pretty well made potentiometer, which under any of the 48 states regulator in each position, are utilized always only two resistors, one common to all of the signal, where I put only Vishay Z-Foil (VAR) (as the best resistor for audio) second shunt resistor, for each position of a (now used SMD type as DACT). After testing several pots on their builds amplifiers, I came to the conclusion that most will never use ALPS potentiometers, TKD and similar, which are quite dirty and not detailed on the sound compared to potentiometers Khozmo, DACT, which I both like a lot, but a lot More from the cable harness potentiometers depends, I use copper wire mono Neotech (Neotech UPOCC Teflon Insulation Cryo Treated), as well as all internal wiring of the amplifier. Still, you can use potentiometers GoldPoint and relay type, but I have not tried them myself. Even more, on a similar configuration, like assembly Beta22 amplifier, the sound just realistic, very much different from the classical assembly Beta22 resistors Vishay-Dale, but so far I had not yet fully assembled.

Thanks for that Andrey, you said the same as a few reviews I've seen elsewhere which is encouraging. It was the 48 steps that first attracted me as my current Valab (cheap smd stepper) has only 23 which I don't find flexible enough at higher volumes.

Hi Chris You may have a problem explaining that amount of expenditure to SWMBO ! Luckily for me, one of those won't fit in a 1U rack case, so I am not tempted. Kind Regards Alex

Alex,
I don't have that problem! We have separate accounts and a business account. Our separate ones are "ask no questions". That DACT did fit though!

One thing I can say that after a direct comparison of the potentiometers on one amplifier, return to the ALPS and TKD no longer have a desire. This was evident on Panda amp. and on my clone Lehmann BCL. And such amplifiers as Beta22 only quality potentiometer, and TKD or ALPS only "will kill" all sound amplifier, which eventually aspire. Only when there is a good potentiometer signal appears sense to replace the amplifier part consisting of higher quality components such as Vishay Foil resistors, etc. Assembled amplifier similarly, the sound becomes quite similar to the same amplifier but classical assembled assembly obtained if different amplifiers, almost similar to each other.
