It hope it is OK to advertice for a sisterforum Well a little history is in place: It all strarted going haywire after our meet last Saturday, one of our profilic and well liked members (also e member here) was suddenly banned.. The gorum owner annouced some new rules that few agrred in.. Lots of the regulars boycottet the site a bit and I was a bit "where do I stand in all this ?" So Sunday aftenoon I took my decission.. I am going to build a Danish head-fi forum I got to a free forum provider and sat up a forum wrote a few persons and the drums were booming in the jungle.. It exploded right up in my face we had more than 100 posts a day from day one, great !! Then somebody told me that the small free forum providers were a bit of a lottery, because if they "went cold" all the work and stuff people put in a site like this and mine will be lost and in the light of that we have just lost our place and found a new one, I would not risk that, so Friday (yesterday) I took my decession (again ) I went all in bought a homepage and a domain name, it was not that expensive 60 £ the first year and 35£ the following years, so what the if it goes down, I can live with have wasted a bit of money, I just smoke a fag less a day I had a lot of trouble setting up the stuff and was so fortunate that Kolind offered his help , I then went for a bikeride with the kid and dog and when I came home Lars had made the initial setup, it just needed a bit of tweaking and I was ready to go.. I have not yet completely firm on the "skin" of it so that will maybe be altered later, but for now i am quite happy, only need som minor things, like font colours and such.. I also owe a very big and that is very very big thanks to Henrik_sdk, he has tireless been adjusting the smaller details in the background that makes it work, I mostly work with big brush.. And now after further ado here it is hoved-fi.dkI will right after this make an english thread in "bla bla bla" and hope you will drop by and say hallo, Mike already did that, one the begone one, so I would love a new one The name of the thread will be "the english thread" Hope to see ya..

Ian Ian, If you click on "Tilmeld" with the little planet and plus sign, you can change the language to English for certain parts of the site, most importantly including the sign up procedure. I'll have to ask my Danish business neighbour for some choice phrases

What's happened to 'Zorro'? (or Mr Grumpy) He must have collected a book of complaints about the world by now. Did he get humpy and leave?

As a small service I can inform you that we have some quite good offers in our "forhandler afdeling" The prices are lower than i Germany I do not know the english price on the products, but take a look hoved-fi.dk/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=89And hoved-fi.dk/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=113And hoved-fi.dk/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=85The only catch is you need to join.. The prices for Brits will be lower if you can get the difference in VAT refunded, the danish price is including 25 % VAT and it should be possible to get 5 of those refunded if you live in GB.. Hope it is OK to post this

Claus,
Looks nice to me. You've used several headers thus far and they have all been ok.
Are you attempting to acheive something specific?

Claus, Looks nice to me. You've used several headers thus far and they have all been ok. Are you attempting to acheive something specific? This is only the third I guess I went online in a "betaversion" and am therefore making some adjustments when I get the inspiration.. The header now is a "leftover" from another style..Which had a problem on different screens with different settings. So I want one that is centered and is more a logo than a collage.. I like the place to be organic and have almost everything up for discussion before I make changes.. We are getting closer to the final look.. But if it ever will be final is doubtfull BTW in the "brugerkontrolpanel" under "boardindstillinger" you can change the forum layout to english and choose one of the 2 other styles I currently have as options.. The only thing I attempt to do is to make the place as nice and cozy as this place.. Now it have the new look (minus logo) as standard take a look..

A big thanks to Mike is in place, as it is this place mixed a bit with my personality and a danish spirit, that has been my inspiration for the forum.. Hope to see you soon and I would love to have you as an active member.. It is OK to post in english, most of our members is on other places also, so they are used to read and write english.

I like the curent background of the forum while scrolling fast. Seriously, I'll have to look more often to your new forum. Unfortunately, sometimes time is sparse. Even for RG alone. I've experienced a lot days when I had trouble to follow all interesting threads a RG. I admire the very active head-fi scene you have over there in Denmark. Still searching for something like that in Switzerland. Most likely, I'll have to start myself if no one else does. I'm sure there are headphone lovers in Switzerland, but I did not find the place where they are hiding...

You need to have contact to other swiss headfiers, I have been in this hobby for about 10 years and have come to learn the "core" members in private also, so getting the first 20-30 members was easy, because they already was my friends.. You must have some kind of HiFi forum in Suisse, if they have a head-fi part start being active there and get to know the local head-fiers, maybe a German forum if you are doing it in german.. If you just make a head-fi site without the nessesary groundwork it will be hard to make it active.. Also you need to be prepared to put a lot of work into your projekt and I do mean a LOT, I have spend just about all my freetime on the web working on the forum.. A lot of my problems lies in that I am an a noob when it comes to programming and making things on a PC, which is a problem you will not have to deal with, I think.. I have spent so much time online that my headphones have started collecting dust and I have to steal an hour here an there to actually listen to music and enjoying head-fi or Hoved-fi as I have chosen as the danish term.. I put a lot of work in making new members welcome, I write PMs to everybody and welcomming them to the site and I do NOT use a template or an automatic PM, they are all different and targeted at the member, this takes a lot of time, but I do believe it is worth the effort, as I have to take care of my members, I do not have that many potential members as an english/german site would, we are only 5 millions in Denmark compared to the 3 billions that can use an english forum.. It is hard work, but the reward is fantastic.
