I understand your frustration and plans to bin it.
It seems very likely the interconnection cables between the PCB's are at fault (the connectors that is) Get someone that can solder to take out the plugs and solder the wires directly to both PCB's.
Once the amp works flawlessly again you will get back the original enjoyment and 'faith' in it's abilities.
You might only like the amp once this is done, but you'll learn to love it later.... (Robbie Robertson ?)

Yes this is sad as I really love the sound it produces. That is why I have even gone this far with it. Or maybe... Just maybe I could try learning and start practice soldering it before trashing it. it's 50/50 that it will work after that or it blows...

That's fair enough for me...
If this doesn't work and still starts to emit noises destroy the bugger... record the event and put it on youtube and link us to the 'destructional video'

Maybe I'll just give up with this shit and get a new amp instead. I'm so tired for trying to get this one to work like it should.

Anyone want to buy this? Whole thread works as an ultimate sales speech for this. Soon will be selling it, if someone wants it... Almost at the price of Pinkie+mod+valves... Maybe... Who knows... PM me if you need to ask something or if you are interested. And for an update to this left channel problem : I've been using it every night now since I last time opened it. Problem has stayed away. So, it is highly cold temperature related thing. As it is now summer and it is quite hot indoors. I think problem just stays away if kept on, as enclosure is warm then. Package would contain: Little Pinkie SE (not the one with fancy metal enclosure) Mike modded V3 with 6h23n-eb (yeah you know what's the problem with the unit itself) Spare pair of 6h23n-eb bought from Mike (unused) Original MF wallwart

J,
Why don't we try one last time? Send her over and I will hardwire everything direct to the board.... all I need is the front panel and board.
Mike.

But I've given up and have already placed an order for a new amp. So selling this one to someone who is able to do soldering and have experience on this kind of issues will be my option now. I don't want to leave perfectly good Pinkie+Valves to sit and collect dust unused. Sooo... You want it? Fix it and forward it after you get it working?

And I have to consider also the enormous shipping costs for the package. With Finland's postage rates I suppose it might be something like 50-100 euros to UK. Reasonable offers? If someone wants to see the mod : rockgrotto.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=q&action=display&thread=1961&page=11There she is, Japa's X-can V3...

Let's solder the wires to the board.... I'll do that for you free of charge (in my own time)..... It has taken a long time but you seem to have pinpointed the problem.... just imagine if you had asked me to "find" that intermittent problem.... it would have taken me forever.... I am glad you have found it yourself and I am happy to hardwire the entire amp for you free of charge.... a 30 minute job, no problems at all. DON'T sell the amp, I want you to hear it at it's best All the best, Mike.

By the way.... I have three "beyond repair" V3's here (badly burnt out) and may use one of them to do a tutorial on board repair.... cut out the scorched board and fit an implant type of thing.... It's what I used to do (many years ago) when "binning" something wasn't an option I'll show the correct way to do it (board repair) As well as the modern method (bin it)...... Hopefully my tutorial will be helpful. Mike.

I can assure you there are no dry joints on J's amp.... Must be a loose connection in one of the connectors.

yes Mike I read that you already re-soldered the whole pcb.
This just maybe useful to others chasing similar faults

New amp (Beyer A1 that is) will arrive for me at about a month or something. I will do A1 vs. V3 then and I will decide after that what to do. Will I keep V3 or sell it and keep A1.
If I will keep V3, I will send it to you Mike.
