Thought I'd post a few pics of my newly reinstalled Clearaudio Level II. I missed looking at it, the finish is beautiful but I had run out of places to put stuff until my wife suggested I add another storey to my hifi stand! As she says, isn't she just perfect A couple of people had coincidentally mentioned it in the past few weeks so I thought that must be a sign. It still clicks and pops so nothing changes but I do have a few LPs that can't be bought as CDs so I can now listen to them the odd time. Syd

Very Nice! I'm glad that you've got her up and running again, it would have been a shame to have had that beauty languish in the garage There is a very tactile pleasure that putting an LP on that CD, clicking a mouse or whatever will never better, I reckon.

You're right Will, its nice to go through the rigmarole but there's one drawback - you can't sit back with a nice glass of wine, snooze a little, knowing the playlist will keep going. I was reminded last night, it doesn't work that way Syd

Hey Fellas I've been lurking for a couple o' weeks, having embraced cans (X-CAN v3 / K702) to fit around the girlfriend and her new shift working patterns. Here's my old slab of jap crap, a Pioneer PL-70L2 I imported from Kobe. These were japanese market only when launched in the early 80's. I do love the old thing, and doubt I could part with it even though it's been sidelined somewhat since getting a mac mini/dac combo. The cd collection will be archived by the end of today and then consigned to the attic, so it'll be old and new schools sharing the rack together.

Syd Certainly looks great Syd, still nicely in proportion with the extra level, which arm and cartridge are you using on this turntable?. Mick.

Hi Mick Thanks, its a lovely ornament! The arm is a Clearaudio Unipivot, which has an inverted 'cup' which swivels freely on a sapphire point. Looks odd when you first lay it on to the record but works well. Here's a link, seems to be still in production www.needles-and-spins.co.uk/pd_clearaudio_unify.cfm The cartridge is a Kontrapunkt 'B' which has a lovely 'cool' sound. When I bought this setup I was actually in the shop to buy a new MF A3 CD player but I fell in love with a French Pierre Lurne model with separate power supply. I still have it, though my main CD player is now the Ayre. That said, I most often use my little PC -based server now! Time marches on. Syd

Hi Syd, That looks a very nice well engineered arm, i have not come across that particular cartridge, although i have heard of them, but no doubt the combination sounds wonderful on that deck, very nice set up indeed, enjoy listening to it again. I still enjoy my vinyl now and again, i still find vinyl has a presence that is hard to beat, especially on quality components like yours. Lovely. Mick.

Erm... gosh. That's a very pretty roundy-roundy thing. What does it do? I kid, I kid. I'm young but I'm not stupid (debatable, though). Although suddenly our old Rega Planar 3 is looking a little inadequate... I wish that I could splurge on something like that for the sake of 'a few LPs'. -JoetheArachnid

Nice....... What speakers are you using? Mike. I have a pair of Cura 30. These were made about 2002 by two guys who were trying to break into low volume production and our local dealer was to be a distributor. They didn't survive long! I really like them but at present they're too close to the wall so the bass is restricted as it partly relies on a rear firing speaker and port. Still excellent, very realistic sound though. Syd

They look nice Syd, unusual design with a drive unit and a port on the rear, would have thought they need to be well away from the wall behind, to give off there best, not always possible though is it!!. Very nice, enjoy.

Very nice, enjoy. You're right Mick, they need about two feet out into the room, then the bass is fantastic. At present that's not possible but they are still beautifully balanced and produce a fantastic soundstage. To be honest it was only when I got these that I discovered the true meaning of soundstage! It doesn't show in the pics but the front panel slopes back as it rises so it throws the sound upwards just enough to get voices at a natural height. Syd
