Just a heads up: Maplin are doing the Ultra 7000 cleaner for £24.99 until 23rd of March. CPC have it for around £50 and the original Maplin price was £44.99. I've just picked one up and it worked brilliantly removing gunky deposits from my heating oil bowl filter. My Seiko watch is now nice and shiny, too. I was using warm water and a small squirt of washing up liquid. I also picked up some Sea Clean Concentrate for a fiver - haven't tried that yet. I thought it might be useful for all those small Garrard/Lenco bits and PCBs etc. Heed the warning about jewellery before plonking your trinkets in it, though. www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=223108www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=218729Thought some might find it useful. I also picked up a couple of electrolytic capacitor lucky bags for £4 each, stuffed with FCs, Os-Con and big NHGs. I reckon around £33's worth from Farnell - not bad for £8! Cheers Jon

Oooh nice idea. I've used industrial ones in the past, and they worked well. You'll have to let us know how it works on pcbs. And thanks for the heads up on the lucky bags, I never looked at them before, but will now

Oh, I had 2 big industrial ones under my charge when I was working at a PCBA plant many stars back. Very good and clean after the plant went green from the Freon cleaner. However, the Maplin one cannot fit in a 12" vinyl to clean.
Thanks for sharing.

a gel facepack would do exactly the same thing.... one of those cucumber face packs.

PAH! Zero sized reply. No post!
Short version - the do a 3L version. What about mating the innards to a custom S/Steel fabricated tray?
Have the Sea Clean fluid, so will try a pcb and my tarnished silver hook up wire next week.
Cheers

Here's an update:
I tried the Sea Green cleaning fluid with a selection of items and a stuffed JLH pcb. The pcb was cleaner, with components sparkling and the tarnished copper brighter. Interestingly, the solder was a dull grey (like a really cold joint) rather than the shiny joints that went into the bath.
I'll test it out in a few days when it has had time to dry naturally.
Some tarnished silver-plated RCA plugs are much improved, with pretty much all the tarnish from the screw threads removed in 2 x 8 min cycles. Likewise the silver hook-up wire I cleaned came out brilliantly shiny.
My watch is really clean and afterwards, there were dirt depostits left in the bottom of the tank.
Overall, I think this will be the trick for cleaning off all those small Garrard / Lenco parts when I get onto them. No miracles on old pennies, etc, but does a pretty decent job, and is exceelent value at the sale price of under £25.
Cheers
Jon

I got one after I saw your post. It's great. Cleaned my watch, glasses, jewellery, electric toothbrush, razor.
I wish I could et my head in it. Save on soap.
Really good little gadget.
Thanks
Ian
