I have been a lover of the group "Status Quo" for many many years and have seen them live more times than I can remember..... they ROCK "live"........ Anyways, I have always liked Rick's (Rick Parfitt) gold telecaster guitar pendant he wears round his neck so bought myself a silver version.... see here The quality is superb and it hangs on the neck just right with the guitar angled slightly upward.... here it is on my scrawny old neck: Now..... here's the big question...... if you were so keen on a band and, having sampled the silver version and found it to your liking, drop some big bucks and go for the full monty gold / diamond, ruby version? I'm not looking at it as an "investment" (just something to wear) but, as sure as night follows day, when Quo "do" die and get the recognition they have deserved for years these things will become highly collectable...... I was thinking of buying myself a new electric bike for my birthday on the 8th March but I am torn between it and the 18 carat gold mini fender.... Comments appreciated. By the way.... I HATE jewellery (I don't even wear a watch!) but this little guitar, for some reason, is saying "buy me buy me"

Wait a week or two and see if you still want it. If so, go for it. After all you already have a very nice electric bike

There is a saying in danish
"If it is a party, then let it be a party"
I would go for the full monty with diamonds and rubys, it looks stunning...
You will end up regretting it if you do "the not so full monty" after all the difference is not that big..
I have been to three status concerts and it was just a great experince every time..

A lot of money for a trinket Claus.... maybe I am getting carried away after watching the Status Quo "Pictures" (Live at Montreux) DVD 6 nights in a row As Toad says, I'll let things settle for a month or two and see how I feel then.... I am on a high with the Pictures DVD and, hell, the silver fender does the job nicely You like the Quo? Always guaranteed to rock your socks off.......I don't think I've ever experienced a "bad" Quo gig..... they always deliver the goods

Mike,
The question should be, which purchase will give you more pleasure for more time?
I'm not big on jewellery either, I do wear a watch and a jail band, erm, I mean wedding ring ;D, which took me years to get used to.
Last time I was in Thailand I treated myself to really gorgeous silver bracelet, I wore it for about a month before relegating it to the bedside drawer, there it has stayed ever since.
So, despite the looming birthday, I'd agree with Ian and and Claus, wait a while before deciding, if still keen then Full Monty it should be.
Quo are good live aren't they! Seen them several times. I only own one studio album though, "Piledriver".

Everyone so cautious.... It depends on finance imo. If you can afford it, get anything you want because you may not be able to get it later. The electric bike will always be around. You could end up regretting not getting it and then not being able to get one because it's not around any longer. I don't need all the headphones and amps, but I can afford them so I get them. There are lots of things we could do without but if we have the money why should we. Mike, it's your birthday. Get it because you want it. Live, don't think. I'm doing 'We Will Rock You' next week - I ought to get one too!!! Ian (Slightly jealous if you get one)

The concerts makes me sweat from all the jumping I have only seen them at musicfestivals, but in my world that is still a concert.

Life is short, we don't know if we will be around "later" I have been giving this notion much thought lately in my own life, the things I do and don't do, and how I can be better to others and happier myself. Live your life to it's fullest, do and buy what makes you happy. be it sitting on your ass in an easy chair listening to music or climbing Mt. Everest. and F anyone who don't like it. BE HAPPY being that u have the silver, I think I'd buy the bike, then on down the line you can pick up the bejeweled version. well that is what I would do. Hendrix - "I'm the one that's gotta die when its time for me to die , so why don't you let me live my life the way I want to."the above is a whole life motto for me, among a few choice others. GO FOR IT PF Peace, MaN227

Mike I think a later model Pedelec might be the go then, as the weather should start to improve soon ? It will also help you get rid of some of the winter pounds due to having to stay inside so much. Alex

Mike, how about getting the silver telecaster gold plated (good quality), then you could get the electric bike.

Well Mate Nothing wrong with walking when you do it for pleasure, when going somewhere is a necessity the old words " Second class Riding is Better than first class walking" ring true. I'm not sure that the pendant would be much consolation to me while I'm trudging home in the dark wet weather carrying groceries Gomez....

Well............ I must have been out of my head last night as I ordered the guitar...... woke up this morning and thought "oh shit!" e-mailed the Quo shop and they refunded me.... phew! I have seen a better quality replica elsewhere (gold plated on solid silver) for only £99 so going to go with that.... designed by a Quo fan and a dutch jeweller.....

I've knocked the bike idea on the head anyway as I can hardly walk at the moment, let alone pedal Don't know what it is but I can't bend down on my legs, my right knee keeps giving way when I walk down stairs and both legs basically feel like I've run a marathon.... it's probably a circulation problem with not enough oxygen getting to the muscles, it hasn't been right since my varicose vein operation I think the surgeon probably removed "too many" veins He did say it could be risky as my deep vein valves are also knackered so possibly not enough blood flowing around the legs,,,,, bloody great

At least start taking Gingko which helps with blood flow to the extremities. Alex

It's cool guys, it's a weather thing..... legs a lot better today now the sun is shining Got a lovely letter from the taxman today asking me for another £3,000 (and another £3,000 in July) so my legs have made an amazing recovery (and my voice) Looks like I'll have to put the little guitar on hold Oh well, part and parcel of living in the shithole called the "UK"..... we are "united" alright..... united in a common agreement that we are being ripped off left right and centre and taxed up to the eyeballs ;D Road tax, income tax, value added tax, council tax, road toll tax, breathing tax, green tax, dustbin tax...... a fckin' disgrace.... we are a nation of "payers" and what have we got to show for it? THE NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE.......... I'd prefer to pay "at the point of entry"..... it would be a lot cheaper in the long run unless you are one VERY sick person who requires long term care. I used to LOVE this united country, I have grown to hate what it stands for over the past few years.... it HAS gone to the dogs and I want out of it. Any recommendations?

7 years ago I would have said Spain. Not now. One of the worst economies is western Europe, also taxed into oblivion, higher social security payments for less services. We even get taxed on being green, as a business we pay for the privilege of giving our glass bottles to the recycling point, this tax appears on every drinks supply bill. Spain is more f'd up than the UK. We still have monopolised industries, 'phone and power especially. These guys can do whatever they feel like, break any law and get away with it. So I'd say start looking outside of the EEC. Maybe give Alex a surprise Australia NEEDS the foremost authority on MF modding, a unique and desirable quality. When the economy improves and we're able to sell up for reasonable dosh, we're gone! Most likely back to Thailand, assuming it doesn't get totally buggered after the king dies, a bit of a potential tinder box there

Sounds a bit like the British government I hear Outer Mongolia is nice in the spring ;D More a coronary arrest if he saw "me" on his doorstep..... I'm worst than the Rickmonster, in that respect..... I really "will" appear on Alex's, Rick's, Graham's, Merton's, Nigel's and a few others doorsteps one of these days The "Mystery Pink" (MP to you punks) will arrive! (you poor sods!) soooooooo.... keep your pads tidy..... you may have the Pink for tea one of these days Mike.
