I shit you not Ian.... you will be amazed with the improvement the platform brings about..... I have to consider my "reputation" every single time I make a recommendation and, as such, I will only recommend products that "do the business"..... the Isokinetik / T585 is a match made in heaven IMO. Mike. I've yet to purchase something that you recommended that I wasn't impressed with Mike In fact you've cost me a shedload of cash over the last few years The NAD sounds great to me without the Isolation platform so chances are I will be in your debt once more. I'm looking forward to Micks impressions of the T585 when his has burned in. If it still falls a long way behind his reference CD player I will be green with envy

My Isokinetik platform arrived today. I've only had a chance for a brief listen to the NAD since but there is a definite improvement across the board in the SQ and as Mike says it's really noticible with the bass. A great and instant improvement for the cash! Even my partner said "Wow, you wouldn't think it would make that much difference." I'm training her up. She's getting pretty good at spotting SQ changes.

NAD "2" arrived the other day Ian and NAD1 sounds a helluva lot better.... it really is amazing what a bit of "usage" and a simple acrylic platform can do to the SQ.... I have transferred NAD1 into my downstairs (main rig) and now consider it my number one CD spinner.... the CD17 has been bastard good to me over the years but the NAD (being a lot younger with fresh ideas) sounds more vibrant and energetic (I can't believe I'm saying this about something that cost £199!) It's not "Audio Nirvana" (whatever that is ) but it's bloody musical and enjoyable.... I, for one, am a very happy bunny I just hope the Sony transport doesn't pack in (I've never had much success with Sony transports) it's the only potentially "weak link" I can see..... let's hope I am wrong

Thanks Here's the guys ebay shop. stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/duo-phonic__W0QQ_armrsZ1Click the isolation and support link on the left. Mike and I got the cheaper of the two. Excellent SQ improvement for the cash. It just nicely tightens everything up especially the bass. Ian

Hi Guys, I've been experimenting a bit today and surprised myself. Me being a numptie newbie to this hi-fi game you may not be so surprised but here goes. I put in a DVD (Roy Orbison and Friends, Black and White Nights (brill, for me ) and just fed the audio track by co-ax through my Beresford SuperDAC and on to the amp and speakers. Result: brilliant SQ. What surprised me was that playing the DVD through HDMI it also put the sound signal out through the co-ax. I'm surprised, are you? Dave.

Nice platform Mike, but if you are in the UK get yourself down to Morrisons supermarket. They do some very nice black solid granite place mats, trivets and chopping board/surface protectors. The ones I'm using are approx 295mm x 208mm (approx 8mm thick) and are the perfect size for my X-24K (and I presume for X-Cans etc and is just great for the Aune or probably Indeed G2 aswell). Just add these sorbothane feet to the bottom for a great isolation platform: cgi.ebay.co.uk/Flatfeet-Sorbothane-audiophile-isolation-supports_W0QQitemZ230450400385QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_CDPlayerSeparates?hash=item35a7ea0c81The best thing is the price. For a pack of two of this size "place mat" it is £7.00, and the sorbothane feet are just £7.00 per set too (incl. postage). I also use one on top of my CD player that I'm using as a transport. They have tiny rubber feet as supplied by Morrisons so as not to damage the finishes on tables etc. This is sat directly on the top of the case with the sorbothane feet stuck to the top side, upon which sits my Aune. The extra mass certainly helps damp ringing of the case of the CD player and further damps any vibrations. The largest size available is 15mm thick and is approx 400 x 300 mm, I dare say putting one of these atop the NAD would certainly help damp resonances within the case for an outlay of less than a tenner. Combined with one underneath as an isolation platform with the sorbothane feet would seem like it could be a good investment. Cheers Matt Edit: pictures Click above to see larger images, sorry for less than brilliant quality.

Nice platform Mike, but if you are in the UK get yourself down to Morrisons supermarket. My nearest "Morrisons" supermarket is 200 miles away (thank god)..... as much as I'd love a 4 hour bus trip to pick a chopping board up I think I'll stick with the Isokinetik job.... it's cheaper than the return bus fare Mike.

I think this NAD has well and truly "burnt in" now and I LOVE it It plays CD's (VERY well), it plays DVD's, it plays "super" audio CD's.... it does everything Seriously, it betters my trusty old Marantz CD17KI.... it's a lot more "toe tapping" and musical..... a wonderful purchase, I love it

Hi Guys, Another numptie question I'm afraid - it's a steep learning curve this hi-fi game when you start where and when I started . I have got my NAD T585 all coupled up into my set up and generally I'm very impressed with it, sound wise. Because I have so many options, (read 'complications' ;D ), with the T585 I have the HDMI connection straight into my TV, the analogue output straight into my amp and the audio co-ax straight into my Beresford DAC. Tonight I wanted to get a 'feel' for the signal path: - T585 by co-ax into DAC, then by analogue into G2 and thence into amp and on to speakers, just to see if my cloth ears could pick up any difference/improvement evidenced by routing it through the DAC and G2. Much to my surprise I couldn't get a sound out of it with the DAC and G2 path, nor could I from the TV through the HDMI connection even though the OSD menu options were displayed. As the HDMI is the only video connection that was obvously working. It's as if either the analogue sound connection is the only one that works or that's the default connection when the connection is made. Another clue that something is not as it should be is when setting up the Audio menu options as per page 31 in the Owners Manual I am not offered any Sample Frequency options - Sample Frequency just does not appear on screen, which suggests to me that it isn't recognising the HDMI or co-ax audio facilities. Any help from others who bought their's at the bargain price posted by PinkFloyd some weeks ago would be much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation, Dave

I couldn't get a sound out of it with the DAC and G2 path Did you remove the headphones from the socket ? the instructions says that only then you can use the "bypass". I guess using a dummyload, would render the passthrough useless also..

Hi Claus, No headphones connected to G2 (or anything else ) so that's not the mistake I made, but it is probably something just as simple..........

have you tried to take the HDMI plug out of the player, some players only accept one digital output, kind of stupid if one wish to use a surroundsystem..
some TVs has a digital out for that purpose.
Otherwise I will have to fold ;D

Otherwise I will have to fold ;D Hi again Claus, I suspect it's time to fold but I'll be sorry to see you go . The only video connection to the TV is the HDMI lead. In Set Up and Menu the On Screen Display is present so the HDMI connection is firm, however no sound will come out of the TV speakers. From this I determine that, as the HDMI connection carries both video and digital audio, the audio signal is not being output from the T585. The question is "Why not?" and I don't have a clue Thanks for your interest. Dave.

Well I am not the quitting type.. If you don't have sound in either of the digital outputs tv and speakers, maybe the RCAs is to blame.. Maybe pulling those out will help.
Also have you put a CD in the player ? LOL

Alex Good Morning Alex, Yes I suspect you may be right - the same thought occurred to me overnight - all I have to do now is figure out how to do this ;D , as the manual isn't very informative on thiis IIRC. If all else fails I'll contact their customer service. I have to say though that the sound out of the analogue phonos straight into the amp (using pure silver i/cs provided by 'johnandchris1' on eBay) is excellent - if anyone is in the market I can thoroughly recommend them, and he will cryo treat them for a small additional fee. They suit my ears and set up anyway. Cheers, Dave.
