I recently acquired a X-10v3 for a bargain and noticed the i get crackles, ops, and hissing on the right channel (very light occasional his, but the pops can be heard in music sometimes). So experience has taught me this is a bad tube, but if I wiggle the wall-wort plug i get the same thing...
So is it tubes or the power supply??
Also if it is the rube I suspect I can just snip the old ones off and solder in feesh ones?

Have you opened her up for a peek inside? You say it only happens on the right channel so I would rule out the wallwart for sure. It's either the right channel 6112 valve or a dodgy cap. Desolder both valves, swap them round..... if the problem migrates to the left channel you've found the culprit. Mike.

Well it must have bee the wallwart as i swapped to the v8p's stock ww and it's now completely gone. Must have been a really loose connection.
Now I'm just enjoying the sound....
It works nice as a buffer between my music hall cd player and my audio-gd roc.

Nice to know that they are god tubes. I'm always leery of stock stuff. I know stock tubes in a bunch of stuff is garbage.
Well I bought a few off ebay just in case a tube goes.

JAN / Philips 6112 were made in the "USA" and the "JAN" part means "Joint Army Navy"...... so, the yanks were confident enough to use these tubes in their nuclear warheads..... Perfectly good in an X-10V3 ;D MF (until recently) have always fitted good (bullet proof) tubes in their products..... rest assured the 6112 are about the best you can get for reliability (unless you consider Russian technology "better" than the good old USA?
