I see very little reason to fit one of these, it won't make the Pinkie sound any better, but there will be no problem at all fitting one for you... just let me know and I'll order one up for you.
Mike.

If you wanted to upgrade the IEC socket, the only upgrade I'd consider would be a filtered IEC socket (Like Farnell P/N 139 0924). Probably a bit big for the Pinkie though.

IMO, those filters strangle the sound Steve...... the Pinkie has an onboard high quality MOV and class X2 cap which do the job nicely, these all in one / cheap as chips filters just don't make the grade (I wish they did!)..........

I can't see how it would. They only filter out the transients which you don't want getting through anyway.

Trust me, They are "shite" and there's a VERY good reason that 99.9% of audio gear doesn't employ them in the design..... they strangle the high frequencies. A "good" filter will "filter" but these all in one IEC "schurter" types are bad news for SQ in my opinion..... of course, YMMV and everyone has an opinion.... my opinion is they are a waste of money and have no place in audio equipment.

I bought a few of the IEGO gold plated IEC sockets and tried them in a few Pinkies (which are being sent out to unsuspecting customers ) I'd love to report that they have added "increased depth" or maybe "higher highs" or maybe even "stunning clarity" but they haven't ;D I could add £20 onto the price of the Pinkie claiming great things for these gold plated sockets but that would make me a bullshitter, conman and a liar...... I have no intention of going down that route. Business as usual..... the Pinkie sounds just the same with the gold plated IEC socket (as I expected it would)..... sure, they "look" pretty but sound exactly the same as Pinkies fitted with standard IEC sockets: The input of the Pinkie consists of a quality class X2 cap (value chosen for best sonic results) and a MOV varistor.... the output wires are laced with ferrite beads...... Simple but effective
