Bloody dentists / teeth

Teeth and dentists have been the bane of my life.... I won't go into detail as it would end up being a "book" but the latest episode I will share with you......
Went in today for a "routine" filling.... the last "routine" filling this guy attempted ended up with a traumatic "extraction" instead but, I digress.....
So..... he pumps a syringe full of anaesthetic into the gum, as you do, and chats for the usual 15 minutes prior to drilling..... "is it numb?"... "appears that way"...... he goes in with the drill and "FCK'N HELL!!!" I nearly hit the roof, pushed his hand (and drill) out of my mouth
"let's try another injection"...... yap yap yap for another 5 minutes, this time he tells me "if there's any pain just raise your hand and I will withdraw my drill" (yeh, right, I was thinking of smashing you in the face with my fist but, out of politeness, I'll raise my hand ;D)
All "seemed" comfortably numb but the second he went back in with the drill it was "OUCH!!!" (in a hit the roof stylee)...... he goes in "again" followed by a "FCK' ME!!!"...... every time his drill touched that tooth it was that high frequency torture.
In with another shot of numb juice..... yap yap yap..... "ok here we go again" "HOLEEEE FCK'!!"....... nope, this tooth was not going numb!
It then became a "well, I've started so I have to finish" scenario with him waffling on about the tooth being "traumatized" and, thus "impervious" to anaesthetic.... he told me it would all be done in "5 minutes" and apologised for any discomfort I may feel.
"5 minutes"?? That was the longest 5 minutes I have ever experienced and not the most pleasurable either with some lunatic drilling away at my nerve endings
Even when he was filling the tooth it was agony.... every time he prodded it with his implement it was like "YEEEEOOOOW!"...... I tell you, I was SO glad to get the hell out of that joint!
Any of you who know me from Head-Fi will have an idea of the trauma I have gone through over the years with teeth and dentists but this was, by far, the most "intense" 5 minutes of pain I have ever experienced..... sure, I've had the 45 minute complicated / traumatic wisdom tooth extraction, the "green pus" episode, the abcesses, the climbing the walls for 72 hours experience, the "DIY tooth extraction" moment but on a magnitude of "pain per second" basis this has to be the winner
I don't want to waffle on but this guy extracted a tooth 7 weeks ago (the "routine filling") and it developed into a dry socket..... It is still bothering me with bone that is irritating the gums..... according to him the bone will "resorb" with time (two to three months) and even though I've pleaded with him to cut the bone down a bit he refuses to.... his idea is that the "body" will do that in time and best to leave well alone...... I'm not a dentist but "my" body tells me it would be better to have that piece of bone that's causing my gum to be inflamed removed.....
Anyways...... filling is done and the robbing bastard charged me £128 for the "experience"..... unfortunately, it's nigh on impossible to get on an NHS dentist's list up here in the highlands so I have been forced into going "private"...... and what a con this "private" stuff is.... exactly the same as NHS but with an added degree of bullshit and a vast hike in the pricing.
Hell, my dentist is straight off the boat from Calcutta and the head of the practice straight off the boat from Poland..... their combined experience is half of that of my old NHS dentist.... I expected "private" to mean "experienced" but obviously not.... any old bod sporting a drill and a syringe can call themselves "experts" these days....
www.smile-solutions.co.uk/thurso.htm Mine is the dentist who performed dentistry at an altitude of over 19000 feet..... poor bastards The other one (the deep sea diver) is the one who went in to do a filling, ended up removing my tooth (after 30 minutes of chiseling, snapping bits of tooth, cutting gums and generally making a pig's ear of a simple process)......
"Private", IMO, means just that...... "behind closed doors" with any comedian with a good line in BS charging you the earth for something you should be getting for a lot less.
