Is this wadding just dialling down the bass & thereby bringing the mids & HF into better balance overall - I don't think it will have any direct effect on the Mids or HF.

My experince with wadding is that it does not hurt the bass but brings the mids more forward and dampen the high a tiny bit.. Behind the driver that is.. It also makes the driver work harder, i think..
I front of the driver it works different adding bas and hurts the treble, depending on the density of the foam piece.
I have absolutely no "real" knowledge just my ears and experiments over the last decade or so..

Blue Tac has been mentioned in this post as well as others on other forums. My question is; what is the official name of this material?
Went to the local office supply superstore & asked for Blue Tac; no one at the store knew what I was talking about. Would appreciate either the name of the manufactrer or the correct name of the material.
Thanks in advance for the answer to this question.

Modifications carried out so far: Frans Filter externally mounted Cable replaced with Van Damme quattro michrophone cable Internal wiring renewed 2 pence pieces added Fish filter wool added to rear chamber Velcro sticky pad to rear of speakers. Velour ear pads Still to do: Aluminium ring set (get well Heliharris) Leather head pad. Very pleased with the improvements though the filter wool needs some trial and error to get it right. I used filter pads and cut them into the shape of a Polo mint. At first I lost the bass but by gradual reduction of the thickness found that about 8mm was enough. I still experience slight bass loss but everything is crisper and more accurate I think. Looking forward to receiving the Indeed G2 and comparing it to my Beresford dac.

Just an alternative to the Dynamat stuff mentioned in post 572-sticky pad with some wool stuff to absorb sound.

What's the Velco pad mod? Haven't heard of that one. You basically stick some Velcro onto your forehead. You then attach some velcro onto the base of your amp and slap it onto your head..... This is more commonly referred to as "the short signal path mod"..... You then cut your Superlux cable down to "2 inches" and connect into your "head" amp.... Viola! short signal path

And load the Ipod with 30 GB of crappy music.. That is the way to let some steam off
