Wow, the DIYing is trashing my room. Low PAF (parents-acceptance-factor) . Just want to confirm my power wire-up as this is my first time dealing with AC (will get my ex-electrician father to inspect before I turn anything on, and if he's unsure I will go back into Jaycar ). Could someone please confirm my lovely paint mockup? This is the combo IEC switch I'm using, if you'd like a photo of the back to clear things up just let me know. Also I'm using the M205 .5a fuse that came in the kit, however, was omitted for the mod. Thanks again for all your help! Matt.

matt I think we may have been through this before with this kind of combo switch. I have never used this one before, and from memory the rear isn't too helpful either.CouId be a wise move to get your father to identify for sure, which tag connects where. I could work it out if I had one of them, but unfortunately I don't have one. I prefer my on/off switches on the front panel, as they are easier to get to, and I don't believe in leaving things like this on 24/7. Alex P.S. The rest of the wiring seems O.K. but get advice about the correct way to wire the combo switch, and insulate that metal strip. It is likely to be alive at all times.

To insulate the 'live' metal strip, is it worth hot glueing to completely cover it and then heatshrinking over the top? Or just one or the other? Thanks, Matt. P.S. Just have to wire it up now and do the initial tests, all the case work is done.

Finished!! Listening to it now, great stuff. It's fully loaded with amp/psu Sandyk mods and a JLH. Only thing I'm missing is a LM4562HA. So will look into that once I can bring myself to spend a bit more money. Will post photos when I have access to a good camera, hopefully before the end of the month . Thanks to all for your help.

Matt Look forward to seeing the photos when you have finalised it. The LM4562HA is worthwhile for extracting that extra little bit from it. Don't forget some kind of heatsink for it . e.g. TO5 type, and that the metal can is connected to the -VE rail. So turn it off before fitting a heatsink clip. Regards Alex

Haven't got a 4562HA yet, keep getting distracted. Will hopefully get one from robertkd. The JLH was a kind donation from a member at Headfi.

Yeah we've been in fragmented PM contact, posted in the thread to see if he can hook up up with an appropriate heatsink as well. See how it turns out.

Matt, If all else fails, you could try something similar to this: www.zalman.com/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?Idx=136for heatsinking your lm4562ha. I use one on mine, and it drops the temp appreciably. I guess that you may need something beefier in Oz, but something along the same tracks would do. Plenty to be found cheap in eBay and in pc overclocking/cooling shops.
