What heck are these? I know Vista su*ked bottoms (much like XP used to the first few months + graphical interface crap (OS requiring a Graphic Card! lol)). Chrome OS? Why? Linux-derivative, right? There are so many distributions already. Have people forgotten how Sun OS got left behind? Also, what do they intend to do with software-depositories? Might as well do something like Oracle. They are smart enough to use Fedora; migration isn't a problem. Windows Seven? It looks like a shiny version of XP. Sorta like going from CDE to Gnome/Xcfe/KDE. I hope it isn't graphic intensive like Vista is. I "work" computers and I need GUI like CDE, it isn't really necessary to have a liquid texture desktop. I am all for a **** desktop pictures, but CDE can do that. Oh the rant.

I like that! Being able to retreat to "BSD" whenever you need to. (I thought OSX is BSD-based) In a mean while, this is me reading this thread. Procrastinating while studying Fortran on my new linux box. Her name is "daisy." She is putting up with my noob-ness. She doesn't seem to mind I only use it for work. Too bad she isn't available.

MERTON, why thanks for the compliment T, yep based on BSD, with it's own kernel,. AKA Darwin but essentially unix under the hood fortran, yuck! you must have been bad to have to learn that language as opposed to C/C++ or even assembler, the closest I've been to it is old Paradox (for DOS) database programming language a long time ago,... shocking isn't it ;D Robert

You are missing the transparent command terminal windows. Heehee. Just kidding. May be you need a nicer background picture. Here is my windows box. Set up is identical, but the background makes it feel more spacy.

I've gone 48 years without "virtualization" and really don't think I need it now Robert... I, like the rest of us, am an animal and only require food, water and a warm bed.... I prefer doing "reality" to "virtual"... call me old fashioned but that's the way this animal chooses to spend his time on this Earth

I am 53 and have no choice. My customers virtualize and I have too. The application for you mike would be to have your audio in a virtual "safe haven". If the audio stuff runs on a virtual system, your normal environment will not affect it and that keeps it fast and safe.
I also use a Mac with virtual Linux, Win 2000/XP/Vista and now seven. Just do it.

W7 RC1 with XP VM for testing cracks...
It's what vista should have been. More intuitive than xp, just as fast, and better looking.
