One set please. Now to source the rest of the components rbrook If you are willing to modify the boards using a pcb drill and a small amount of wiring, the original 15w Class A pcbs are available from RCS Radio in Sydney. If Will supplies the pcbs you will still need to drill them ,which is a tedious task. However, Will"s pcbs will not need modifying, just drilling. Alex

Most hobbyists don't make enough PCBs to warrant the purchase of a drill press. Alex

Alex, There is also a bit of a standing joke between Phil and I, regarding drilling (he loves it, I hate it!) I've been contemplating getting a drill stand to make quite a few DIY jobs around the house easier. I recently bought some forstner bits (which I've fallen in love with) and they really do demand a drill stand. My drilling method is holding the PCB vertically in a 4" vice on my workbench in the garage. I then bend over to the vice and drill each hole using a hand-held power drill, using both hands, one to guide. After a few boards, standing up is accompanied by the traditional 'erroofffh' noise and holding a hand to the small of my back! The actual drilling is easy. Aim for the holes in the copper. Drilling a couple of boards? No problem. Drilling loads of them? Not on your sausage!

Will In addition to the aching back bit, I am very good at breaking those brittle little small drills, and they very quickly become blunt, if they don't break first ! Alex

I've been using a 1mm metal HSS drill bit for the holes I've done, granted far fewer than you guys, but I'm still on my first bit . In a hand drill with no stand, held horizontal in a vice, or with a dremel clone. It's still giving nice clean holes.

Chris Most PCBs have holes typically around .8mm,with 1mm reserved for components such as PCB pins and components with thicker leads such as PSU diodes and large value electros etc. 1mm drills are also too big for use with I.C.s The smaller drills are much more brittle, and wear quickly. They also need a very high speed drill for best results with fibre glass PCBs. Pagan - 2 full sets. 1 set to go, which I hopefully will get confirmation of today. If I do get confirmation, I'll leave it open until Sunday evening (UK time), and if I survive mountain biking on Cannock Chase, I'll contact Mintech on Monday and get latest prices and PM you all for initial payment.

Group Buy is Go!
Me - 1 full set. Alex - 2 full sets. Juke - 3 full sets. Jon Clancy - 1 full set. Leo - 1 full set. Cyteen - 1 full set. rbrook - 1 full set. Pagan - 2 full sets. Minivan - 1 full set.
I'll leave this open until Sunday night, as mentioned above.
If anyone else wants a set, a half set for spares, or even thinks that they may want a set for the future, please let me know before then.
I'll confirm costs and send out PM's on Monday for costs. Once I have received all payments, I'll place the order and get them on the way.
Just to re-iterate, once I receive the devices, I'll contact everyone to see how they want the devices to be posted to them. Packing will be free, but you'll have to pay postage to yourselves.
Alex, Pagan, rbrook and Minivan - as you guys are all in Australia, would it make sense to club to together for insured airmail? For one set to Australia, it's around £3-ish for airmail, with insurance upto £35. For £12ish all your device can be delivered to one address in Australia, with compensation up to £500. But then you may have import duties to think of. Have a think about it.

Actually can you make mine 2 full sets, always handy to have a few spares on hand.
Combined postage to Aus is a good idea, I'm happy with that.
Richard.

Richard You may find that imposed Custom's duty may cancel out any potential savings, and it would need to be paid for later on by the recipients, in addition to what we would have already paid. Alex

The quote just landed.
Gentlemen, please check your PM's. Once I have received all payments, I'll place the order. Costs are:
LS313 £3.58 LS352 £3.14 £15 delivery charge for the above, plus VAT on top, and also Paypal charges.
Lead time is 4-6 Weeks. I go on holiday in 7 weeks, and wont be back before the end of August, so if we can get payment made quickly, there is more chance of getting them to you before I leave for my hols. Also, as they want paying by cheque, this will have to clear, adding to the time involved.
I'll post the quotation when I get home.
Cheers!

I know, just being a little bit cheeky.
Only two outstanding, which is pretty good for 3 days.
There will reasons why there will be delays, such as work, holidays, missing a PM or even waiting to be paid.
No problem!

All payments received, thank you gentlemen.
I've now placed the order, and will receive a pro-forma invoice shortly. Soon as that arrives, I'll write the cheque and get them on the way. According to Mintech, if all goes well, they should arrive within a week of the cheque clearing.
I'll keep you up to date on this thread.
