for a fraction of the cost I could do you a deal on this as speaker cable well the high rarefied atmospheric levels of Hi Fi (wank factor 12!), lets face it if you paid that much for speaker cable you would definitely hear the difference, even if though there wasn't one ;D

I certainly believe headphone cables make a difference. I'm confident I could pick out the difference between the stock cable & my more expensive upgraded cables on both my AKG K501 & Sennheiser HD650's.

James Randi is offering $1 million according to that article..... the $7,250 is the RRP for a pair of 12-foot "Anjou" audio cables from Pear Cable company. He must be very confident

I can tell the difference between my stock cables and the aftermarket cables for my HD650/600's There's even a difference between the Zu Mobius which has silver wires and the Equinox which has oxygen free copper - the Zu sounds brighter.

Hi, new member here. My understanding is that various people have stepped up to take the challenge, but then a whole load of terms and conditions become apparent and negotiations usually break down as both sides try to get the test to favour them. I do not think that it is available any more as Randi realised that if he ran it fairly, even by random guessing, someone could win and he would have to pay out.

Negotiations ?? I would like to go there sit down and see if I could hear any difference and become a richer man.
Heck I could just hope to guess my way out og it, I do not believe that I have to pay a mill $ if I can not hear the difference.
At least it is worth a chance.

Isn't the point that cable sounds different! Not better or worse .. just different!
Cable has different properties (capacitance and shielding etc etc) surely this is fact! Wouldn't this alter the signal?
I'm in the camp that says cable can make a difference and is a useful tool in tweaking a system .. that said I'm also in teh camp that cable of a more expensive type does not necessarily sound different large scale, and certainly no worth the 1000's it cost above a certain point ...

I'm in the camp that says yes, cables DO sound different but that rather than try and "tune" my system with the cables,in effect using them as tone controls while saying I don't use any,I try to instead shoot for minimal footprint which is the only way I can personally evaluate the electronics they interconnect and for me that means the less wire and the less "metal" (as in connectors) I can get in between two points the bettrer and why most of my cables are simple solid wire two wire "twist" deals and if i need more protection from RFI field triple brainds of solid wire then worst case quad braids of the same. If I had a single "wish" it would be that we would move away from the RCA "phono" connector and towards one that is not only very low mass but gas tight as well, something that is great in theory but would never fly in an age where cables must be SEEN thus have to look good (cables as audio jewelry ) more than they do perform good I think the old school "brit" gear that used DIN connectors had it way more right than the american standard RCA's they eventually adopted in the name of selling more products here because of all the reviews that pissed on the difficulty of the DIN which required an adapter to make it work with the reviewers system never even considering which was the "better" way to go (he shoulda replaced his/her RCAs not the other way around )

The RCA Idiots designed a connector that breaks the ground before the hot signal. No electrical engineer could have EVER signed off on a design like that!
XLR make a lot more sense!
