Endless (well, 16 hours worth) of eighties chart music! I had a bunch of old cassettes of my favourite "various" singles on so I've committed the same to mp3 (lame), along with many more . This is for background music so file quality is sufficient for the need and much easier to put together. Hit "shuffle" and off we go... I stumbled upon an easy programme to normalise the volume level of all the tracks in a folder and it seems to work very well. MP3Gain

Yeh! Sham 69, another local band when I was growing up. I met Jimmy Pursey several times long after the height of fame for the band, still larger than life and a real character.

Definitely remember that one! My eldest brother brought the single home and we played it on our top end gear...Fidelity all in one auto changer, served us well, Gary Glitter (ahem), The Glitter Band (remeber "Angel Face") David Cassidy (Puppy Love), The Hollies, The Sweet, TOTPs best of albums (with their ever so slightly risque covers) etc. Good memories A couple more blasts from the past...

What was the name of the band that came up with the lyric "Reputa the Beauta". I can't think anymore...empty head, brain going bye-bye...
Funny you should mention memory as; "My blood runs cold, my memory has just been sold My angel is tha centrefold (angel is the centrefold) My blood runs cold, my memory has just been sold (Angel is the centrefold)" Is by the very same J. Geils Band, your song was "Musta Got Lost". Thanks cj...I shoulda remembered j. Geils...they entertained "mightily" in Day-twah many times....or is it "dee-TROY-it"...as they say on "Hockey Night in Canada" from Maple Leaf Gardens, Saturday nites on CBC, channel 9, Windsor, Ontario... But talking about our shared musical histories: I did not know anything about Mississippi black Blues players and their music and their histories before I was summarily instructed about them by a bunch of rock n rolling "white" British musicians calling themselves "The Rolling Stones"!

But talking about our shared musical histories: I did not know anything about Mississippi black Blues players and their music and their histories before I was summarily instructed about them by a bunch of rock n rolling "white" British musicians calling themselves "The Rolling Stones"! I was a big fan of Rolling Stones, Animals, Yardbirds etc. at the time - not so much the Beatles although I liked their songs in the minor key such as Things We Said Today, I'll Be Back, and I'll Follow The Sun. These 3 bands were decent purveyors of the Blues, or as BB King would say "The Blues had a baby and they called it Rock and Roll". Conspiracy sites in the U.S. are known to believe that the Beatles were the solution the establishment promoted to salve over the wound of the Kennedy assassination 2 months earlier. The Stones had a reputation, no doubt heavily padded by Oldham et al, as Bad Boys or what. And although they did a lot of silly stuff after "Satisfaction", they hit their stride with Let It Bleed and Altamont and the Satan-stuff. Still, Her Majesty appointed Sir Mick, in spite of the earlier attempt to market an album called Her Satanic Majesty Requests. Pink Floyd, not a blues group especially, nonetheless got their name from Pink Anderson and Floyd Council - American blues musicians. Despite my large collection of Rolling Stones songs (much larger than any other artist I have), my real favorite genre is New Wave more-or-less, like Flock of Seagulls, OMD, Depeche Mode, Echo and the Bunnymen, Bauhaus, Fixx, Jesus and Mary Chain, Joy Division, New Order, Modern English, Psychedelic Furs, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Tears for Fears, Thompson Twins ..... when I moved to L.A. in 1981, KROQ and Rodney On The ROQ were in top form - it was pure magic.

What, then, was the name of the band, Swedish I believe, in a music video that had the lead singer pull the girl fan into a comic book state of being and then they were both chased, still in the comic book, by wrench wielding bad guys?
Also, I have a little known "Hollies" LP of the band performing live in small venues, post Graham Nash. They perform all of their hits with little more than drums, bass, guitar and with Pete Wingfield on synth-keyboards...whilst Clarke and Hicks harmonize to Hollie's perfection. It was made in Canada circa mid 70's from their then, world tour. Not spectacular or a big production, but totally professional and amazingly accurate to their recordings. It's called "Hollies Live"...for anyone interested.

Eric Burdon, possibly the greatest white blues singer ever, lost it with LSD. Mick Jagger had it at times, but got too "flowery" in the 1960's - had a few good moments up to 1980 - then vegged. Paul Rodgers had great potential, but ruined half his concert videos with clowning. So much potential....
