Dylan, Dylan and more Bob Dylan. You can almost feel the lyrics while the guitar keeps playing...

My favourite tracks (at the moment!) are 'Black Coffee'* and 'Blue Motel Room'. * Isn't that low bass wicked? Derek P.S. do you have the 'Secret Love' album too? The fretless bass intro to 'But Beautiful'... wow. Just playing it now on my new Spendors / Squeezebox Touck set-up.

I must revisit 24/96 "Secret Love" now that I can get improved results from decoding better than average sounding .flac files . The TDH album seems to me to be quite a bit above the others in recording quality. Regards Alex

In fact I can see a sharp roll-off at a little over 20kHz, with only DSD-type noise above that. 44.1 or 48kHz kHz originals no doubt - there's been so much publicity about 'counterfeit' hi-res music downloads. Hi Fi News analyses about 6 hi-res releases each month in this context. Here is a frequency analysis of a randon minute's worth of 'But Beautiful'.... Derek

Derek There is more to it than be readily seen in graphs like that. I remember reading an explanation from Linn records in response to claims like yours. I think it was in C.A. but I wouldn't be able to readily find it.
Alex
P.S. I can link you to a conversion to .wav done in Safe Mode, as an Uncompressed zip, if you would like to compare it with your conversion from the Linn DL.

I was out last night in a local pub listening to Steve Fulsham do an acoustic set. Very Good, he has split from his Blues/Rock band and going solo.

I've had a mad Genesis two hours or so with 'Abacab' and 'Trick of the Tail.'
There is something about the sound of these albums that really evokes a time for me.
Those 'pad' synth sounds and Phil's enthusiastic vocals and drumming.
'Trick of the Tail' in particular is superb. I REALLY like this album with it lyrical stuff alongside the more heavy synth stuff.
I've never been fussed about Tony's keyboard work, but he really does fit in with the band and is a real part of the mix. For me, he's kind of hampered by a 'slow' technique.
I met them all at Wembley when they were doing the Invisible Touch tour and I found Tony a little bit 'intense' or maybe pre-show nerves.
Listening on Senn HD650 coming from a Presonus hp4 amp which I've always liked a lot since you can turn it up without any 'glass' sounds hitting you. It's also very mid based as well which allows you right inside the instruments. I find that the Presonus is good with drums although not real deep bass. (However the albums come from a time when engineers seemed a bit scared of bass!!!) Those were the days.... Naim and Linn!!
It's funny, but I remember the past through Music and not photos!!

That's what I like about Live! Not pure perfected studio sound but just raw let your hair down sound. Listen to the drums, the guitars and singing too. All raw and with a special sound.

Ian, You will have probably guessed by now that Genesis is one of my favourite bands Especially the earlier stuff when Peter Gabriel sang. Been a while since I had a good long listen to them, but Trick of the tail, Lamb lies down, Foxtrot, Nursery Cryme & Selling England by the pound are worth their weight in gold. Squonk Suppers ready I know what I like Counting out time Lilly white lilith I could go on and on Got me going now, out goes Whitesnake, Led Zepp BBC sessions, Michelle Nicole and pixie Lott from the car - In goes the above cd's - have your ear muffs ready because you will hear genesis from my car wherever you live. (Rock on

@ dragan,
I was listening to all of that album by RM TOCAK on youtube and really liked it. It seems you can't buy it though, which is a shame.
