Genesis "trespass" A darkly recorded album in the old "all in one go" style, good test for systems retrieval qualities. Particularly Stagnation and Dusk sounding stunning thru' SCHA (sun on board).

Bat for Lashes - Two Suns
Very good album. If you liked the last Goldfrapp album, Seventh Tree, you'll probably like this.

More old stuff, though a bit of a cheat, 'cos I've just finished listening in the car.
Santana, eponymous followed by Abraxas.

XTC "English Settlement" next up, Elvis Costello a double cd best of compilation. Elvis is patchy, some of it poor, some of it fantastic.

Funny you should mention Elvis C being patchy in places Nigel. Some people are saying his "patchiness" is rubbing off on Diana Krall since they got together. I mentioned that Diana looked rough on her new CD cover and Miguel joked that it was "age" Hope she hasn't caught Costello-itis Are Elvis Costello and Diana Krall ruining each other? www.slate.com/id/2102542/Currently listening to... Elvis & Diana. The perfect match? To my eyes, Diana looks a little like Elvis. Could be Elvis' daughter. Presley of course.
Elvis Costello's 'Shipbuilding' is an absolute classic, it features Chet Baker on trumpet, the Robert Wyatt version is even better! I wouldn't mind hearing the Elvis Costello / Burt Bacharach album either, think it was from the late nineties. I would imagine that recording as being a touch of class.
Diana Krall? I don't have anything by her other than a couple of tracks she sings on a Dave Grusin album "Two For the Road." There's a song on there called 'Soldier In The Rain' & her vocal is spellbinding, sending shivers up your spine. I guess I should look for more, I'd like to hear her sing some Brazilian / bossa nova inspired tunes, I should imagine that combination would work really well.

Insomniac,
Just read the article from your link. Interesting point of view, I read elsewhere that Costello started to nose dive the moment he thought he could really sing. I guess it's impossible not to have a big influence on each others careers but understandably, this could be counter productive.

This evening heard,
Average White Band "Soul & The City" Elvis Costello "Best Of" Dave Grusin "Two For the Road" Casiopea "Landing Into Summer" Genesis "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" (this sounded particularly good but I'd had a few bananas by then)
