Why the hell are we getting visits from sheep? I thought that Grotto Members by their very nature were not sheep. We were people that decided that we liked what we liked and sod what anyone else thought. However one particular sheep recently (naming no names) is back in the Grotto demanding advice and then blatantly ignoring that given. This particular sheep would claim black was white and have the proof to back it up but would still ask whether white was a warmer colour. Personally I believe that the Grotto would be better off if said sheep buggered off back to the herd but we're all to bloody nice to ask for that or demand it. Anyway sorry for the rant but just had to get that off my chest Mutton anyone?

Toad The trouble with "sheep" is that they are capable of trying the patience of a Saint. TBH, I wonder if some of them deliberately set out to be annoying. Sometimes, I am reminded of the movie "Groundhog Day." SandyK

Yup..... you advise them, you give them your opinion and they do the opposite.... then they wonder why you don't bother answering them next time they ask a question Fekkin' annoying to say the least ;D

Merton. You are nobodys sheep! Believe in yourself. Grab life by the balls and there will be rewards as well as the hard times.

Merton when I was 23 years old ( over 2 decades ago) I wrote on a notebook the following.
"Present yourself to the opportunity. Don't wait for the opportunity to present itself to you."
In other words if you want anything you have to go out and make it happen.

Well that's down to your individual circumstances. One of the first jobs I had was selling computers. I was in a shop and heard the manager on the phone. He was finalising the details of an ad for the local paper for a shop assistant. He put down the phone and I said "You don't want them you want me." After a 10 minute chat he hired me and cancelled the ad. Later, I was a part time computer operator. When my boss left the company I worked for I went to the IT manager and said "I want his job." I was young and arrogant but I was also intelligent and resourceful. I got the job as Computer Operations supervisor at 23 years old and have since moved on to be an IT Manager at a couple of different places and am curtrently Head of IT responsible for five sites, several servers, dozens of PCs and laptops and the hordes of users that all that entails. It's not the highest position in the world of IT but it pays a decent salary compared to most jobs in my region of the UK. It also means I have my own office and can sit and listen to music on my headphones when I'm stressed or busy. Basically it's a great job and if it wasn't for some of those "hard times" that hit us all at some point I'd have a perfect life. But alas a perfect life is just not obtainable for most of us.

this seems to be a problem for me. i always get advice from exceptional people. what would a normal person say?

I'm not exceptional Merton, I consider myself at the bright end of normal but certainly not exceptional. Maybe some other "normal" person could comment. Besides, what is normal?
