"Oppo is releasing their first Blu-Ray player within the next few months. Many people have expressed an interest in this player.
Unfortunately the news is not terrific for us Australians. Oppo have informed me that Blu-Ray player will be USA zone only, including for standard definition (SD) discs. Their chip manufacturer is not willing or able to produce a multi zone version.
I'm still naively hopeful that the ability to play SD discs from all zones might still eventuate."
