Well done for finding exactly what you wanted. I'm currently using SennHD600 on a modded MF Xcanv2 with little Pinkie. I really like this combo but there are certain things the 701 does better and others for the 600, on balance the 600 win for me. Ref my thread, rockgrotto.proboards39.com/index.cgi?board=b&action=display&thread=2966&page=1#32429I have ordered the Ming Da for my 701, and some better valves. When all has arrived and settled in I'll let you know how the new couple fare.

Hi cjarchez
Several years back I too had a modded xcans v2 and a pair of hd600 cans. The xcans v 2 once modded is a very nice little amp especially with some NOS mullard valves.
Soon sold it and was put off valves for many years when the expensive Mullard valves that I had ordered from the USA started acting up. After having several solid state amplifiers (a WNA MK2 and a Lisaiii xp) I decided to give valves another chance and brought a Darkvoice 332 and some good NOS valves.
Same old valve niggles ie I liked the valve sound but hated the hassle of having to buy fussy fragile redhot glass nos bottles shipped from distant parts of the world in order to get the best sound.
I guess that the high maintenance and expense of valves just does not suit me.
Class A discrete solid state amps do seem to suit my tastes far better and seem to offer the best compromise between solid state convenience and valve sound.
When I get a decent balanced output DAC, I shall probably build myself a balanced ( four channel) beta22 and get the K701 ketted out with balanced cable and connectors.
Until then, its looking like the PH-100 amp should more than suit my amplifier needs.
Let us know how you get on with the Ming Da. It certainly looks like very nicely constructed!

For me to like anything with valves in is quite a rare event, being a solid state fan, so I'm taking a bit of a flyer on the Ming Da, though I suspect it's just what the 701 needs for my ears.
For 'speakers the ONLY valve amp I have ever fully respected (of what I've heard) was the Graaf 13.5 pre with a pair of bridged GM20s, very hard to beat, only something like Chord Electronics can compete at this level......IMHO
